5Th Grade Girl Having a Hard Time with Other Girls at School

My 5th grade daughter is really having a hard time with others in her class. She has 1 good friend, but it seems like the others she thinks are her friends are so hard on her. The clicky thing is already starting. There is constant fighting within her class and it is breaking my heart seeing her going through this at such a young age. We have considered moving but don't know if this is common everywhere or if it is related to where we live. Please help!

How to Home School

I am actually a teacher and have spent the last 10years in the classroom. I am having second thoughts about keeping my children in public education, especially as I see my oldest ( a 4th grader) continue to struggle. I have a hard time balancing my dedication to the classroom and the needs of my husband and 3 children. I keep thinking and rethinking home schooling, or darn-it starting my own school, but I do not even know where to begin... I would love to hear experiences. The good, the bad, and the ugly!!! Is this feasable or will I...

My 4Yr Old Is Behind the Other 4 Year Olds in Her Pre K Class!! HELP!

First I must start off by excepting full responsibility for my daughter being behind the other 4 yr old kids in her Pre K class. Since my daughter was 3yrs old she was ready for school always telling me she didn't want to go to daycare anymore with the babies she wants to go to school with the big kids, however mommy was not ready to handle the steady constant routine of a school age child, especially since she was only 3 and the average 3 yr old is still at home with mom or dad or in daycare... Anyhow Our life has been unfortunately...

Middle School Is Killing Me!!!

My son (11) has never liked school, now that he has moved to the middle school things seemed to be going a lot better. He was doing his homework and turning it all in. Which I can see on their website on a daily basis. The problem is that he is slacking off again and in our parent/teacher conference last night with the core teachers they told me they are having a lot of trouble keeping him on task. They all said he is very polite and attentive, but when it's time to do the paperwork he zones out and won't do the work. They said he is a...

ITT Tech (Breckenridge College) for Nursing?

Hello all. Do any of you have any experience with Breckenridge College at ITT Tech for nursing? I have a friend looking to get an RN degree -- it's an associates degree, and ITT keeps coming up. I see all sorts of online reviews about what a horrible school this is and how they fleece students for all sorts of loans. However, ITT has offered $35,000 in scholorships to my friend. That plus the $18,000 in federal student loans that she could get at ITT or anywhere else would cover the cost of the 2 year program. So ITT doesn't seem to being...

Kindergardener Being Bullied at School

My son is a happy go lucky kid. He doesnt understand why someone would not be freindly toward him. This being said, he doesnt usually tattle out of compromising a chance at a freindship with any kid, even if they're a meany. He likes to be freinds with everyone. A few weeks ago he came home and told me that he was punched in the nose by a classmate while on recess. He had a bloody nose and was sent to the nurse's office. His cousins saw the incedent as well and told me in detail what had happened. I didnt receive a call or note from...

Academic Punishment? AAAAHHH

Hi Moms~ I am in need of some advice really bad here! My son, he is in 6th grade. He loves his sports, popularity, clothes, friends...everything that just does matter. He is a great kid and all the parents love him. He is very polite and friendly. A bit naive. The one thing he is lacking is he is exceptionally LAZY. I know it is the age. But, his laziness has gone from just at home to his academics. He is not organized which means not turning in assignments. We have done everything under the sun to get him there. He is getting...

Need 'Cold' Lunch Ideas

Hi everyone, I'm two weeks into summer and already ready for school to start for one reason only...the daycare I take my kids to does not supply lunch for the kids so I am responsible for making my kids lunch everyday and I can not send anything that has to be warmed up so needless to say my kids are already burnt out on ham and chesse or peanut butter/jelly sandwiches or lunchables (which are getting expensive) and I am out of ideas for things that can sit in a lunch kit unrefridgerated for several hours. I also need something quick...

Wildwood Vs. Ocean City, NJ Vacation

My husband and I want to take our almost 2-year-old to the Jersey shore for the first time. We're thinking of staying only two nights now that we see how expensive it is for motel rooms this time of year. We've heard that Ocean City is better than Wildwood to take kids, but it also seems that there are far fewer motels/hotels in OC, and they are more expensive. We're thinking we have to book now for the end of July, or it will be too late. Any opinions on Wildwood vs. OC, or suggestions of hotels?
