Has Anyone Taken an Anatomy and Physiology Class Online?

I took A&P semesters I and II online over the summer last year. I'll start off with not recommending the accelerated format over the summer, especially along with two semesters of math!

I had no problem with the online format and got A's both semesters. You must be organized and well-disciplined. If you work well on your own and need a class you can bend to your schedule, this is for you. If you work better in a group or need to have a scheduled class that you have to be at at a certain time to get work done, then you need to take the class in person.

After reading the other answers I also wanted to add that my class had a CD that had autopsy slides on it, so I could visualize the anatomy. That worked for me, but if you want to touch the bones, et cetera, you either need the live class or go visit the lab at the school on occasion. And the writer commenting on the chemistry sections is correct, that is the most difficult part. Also, my course had animations that I would download to my iPOD and watch again and again to understand certain points. I found studying at the gym on the exercycle really helpful!

I just took AP 1&2 in class and could NOT imagine taking it as an online course. There is just so much information. I'm sure there are people who can do it and you may be one of them. I would just hope that you are extremely science minded to start with. I am not and had a really hard time, especially with the chemistry parts. It was the only class I took each semester as well and still it was a struggle. I put 90 hours in at the study center and that doesn't count what I did at home (per semester). I made a B in each class and I very proud of those grades!! Best of luck to you whichever you decide to take it.

WOW- that would be a hard one. I took 3 A & P classes in college (sports med. major) and then reviewed it all 15 years later for my personal training cert.
It was challenging to take the course in a classroom. I had to be able touch the models, take the layers off, be able to ask the professors questions about what we were looking at. The schools have the skeletons, the models, etc....that you need...and I think locating the resources on your own in an online A & P would be difficult.

Can you take another class online and do the A & P in class setting?

I already had taken A&P but had to take a pathophisiology class on line from Northern Illinois University as part of their BSN completion program. It was tough, but doable. I recommend working with someone else as a "study buddy" because it helps to talk over tough questions. And study every day also so it does not become overwhelming at test time.
