8 Week Old with Thrush That Will Not Go Away!

Hi Everyone! My son is 8 weeks old and he got thrush when he was about 2 weeks old. The doc put him on Nystantin and that got rid of most of it. (It made him cry for hours on end) His stomach was very upset by the medication. The doc said that there was only two options when we started the treatment. 1. Nystantin(which is hard on the stomach) 2. another medication (that he told me is worse on the stomach). We were on the Nystantin for 2 weeks and then we stopped and it came back fast. I put him back on the medication after a week of being...

4 Month Old with UTI

my 4 month old daughter was diagonosed with a UTI last tuesday. we did 3 days of an injectable antibiotic and now are on an oral antibiotic for the next 3 weeks until her renal ultrasound. She has been on antibiotics one other time which resulted in a horrible diaper rash. Presently i am wondering if we should do a daily probiotic in addition to the antibiotic that we are presently giving her. I looked probiotics up on webmd and got some mixed reviews. does anyone have experence with probiotics in young children while on antibiotics? anyone...

Small Oval Rash on 11 Month Old Neck

Last week I noticed a small oval rash on the back of my 11 month old neck. I took her to the doctor and they said it may be ringworm, but they were not 100% sure. Although it is not circular in shape, just red and oval (looks more like burn mark) l. I have been placing Lotrimin on the area as told by her pediatrician, but the rash looks redder and larger with the Lotrimin. Has anyone had this experience before? I will be taking her back this week if not better.

Bad Toddler Diaper Rash

My daughter has had the worse diaper rash off and on for over a month. I called the pediatrician and spoke to the nurse twice and do what she says, then it gets better for awhile and comes back worse. The first time we thought it was a yeast infection so we treated it by not using wipes, and using lotrimen followed with cornstarch, and making sure it was very dry. It got better, but came back again, this time with no bumpy rash, so I started using triple paste (very thick) and medicated cornstarch which made it better for awhile. But it...

Raw Spots After a Diaper Rash.

My 14 month old had a diaper rash that has cleared up, but she still has several red raw spots we can't get to go away. We're using Aquaphor, Butt Paste, and sun through the window when we can (she doesn't stay still long enough). We do cloth diapers and change her frequently to get the wet off, but they're not healing. Any recommendations?! Thanks so much!

19 Month Old Girl with Rash

Hi everyone, I got up early and tried to back track through some old postings but did not find anything. My grand daughter has had a very red and bumpy rash. I called the nurse and she said it was yeast and that I should go and buy some Lotrimin and use that. That is what I did the rash was still there at the end of the day when my daughter came to pick her up. It is still red and irritated this morning as she arrived back. I am thinking Lotrimin is not doing the job. I am going to try a baking soda bath now and add a pro-biotic to...

Almost 2Yr Old with Bad Diaper Rash!

I need help. My daughter is almost 2 and she had lose poopies for about a day and a half, she still have lose poopie but the worst diaper rash I have ever seen. I change her all the time. She has never even had a rash when she's been sick or as a infant. This is as red as red gets. She won't even sit or let you go near her to wipe or for cream. I feel like the cream is just making it more moist and not helping. I have tried the old fashion ways and still no help. Is there medication or something a doctor can get to help, or is someone out...

Has Your Child's Doctor Ever....

Prescribed the wrong medicine? Is this a forgivable offense? We were in the office yesterday and my baby has thrush along with diaper yeast infection. The doctor told me to get lotrimin for his rash and that he would prescribe something for the thrush in his mouth. It was oral nystatin. Well, I picked up the prescription and luckily I read everything over and over and it was the nystatin ointment for skin. So he prescribed the right medicine but the wrong form...I just keep thinking what if I was someone who didn't double, triple check...

Diaper Rash or Something Else?

My son has developed a few spots/sores on his bottom. They look like red pimples about a half inch in diameter with white heads. It started out as one and we thought it may have been a spider bite but he has developed more. I've applied Lotrimin for a couple of days thinking it could be a yeast infection but it's not clearing up. Any other suggestions? I'm certainly open to calling out ped but thought I would get all your great mama responses first! Thank you!

Rash with Swim Diaper

My son has been getting red spots in the diaper area, the spots are the size of a dot with some of them looking like pimples, the other day he had a rash on his side where the elastic of the swim diaper was, this one looked exactly like the side of the swim diaper. The little red dots seem to go away by morning time, but the rash on his side stayed for a few days. Anyone else have this problem and what did you do about it?

My hubby suffers from athlete's foot. He won't go to a doctor, so I need some home remedies. He has been changing socks often, using the sprays and lotrimin cream. I plan on investing in some bamboo socks, I heard they breathe better and can help. His plan is to try bleach water and to me that sounds like a terrible idea. Any ideas that really work?

No Insurance, Need Pediatrician for Daughter's Rash!

I am recently separated from my husband and have moved back to the Ellis county area from Arkansas, until we can see if things will work out. He was laid off from his job and now we have no medical insurance. My daughter has one horrible big red spot on her genital area, with smaller spots around it as well as a rash on her buttocks (but it looks different from the spots on her bottom in front). I have looked up and searched symptoms on everything to figure out what it could be. *Before when we had insurance, I took her to the doctor and...

The red areas are slightly raised and some areas are peeling. We are letting him run around with out his diaper as much as possible and we use Seventh Generation diapers so I know it isn't a sensitivity to his diaper. So, far we have just been using Earth's Best diaper rash onitment. I am wondering if any one has...

I am at my wits end, SO frustrated that my usually healthy children seem to have been sick ALL summer! I have 3- ages 4, 2, and 7 months. They don't attend daycare (I am home with them all day) and have very little exposure to other children other than at church weekly and my 4 year old's swimming lessons (which I rarely even take the little ones to). They are on Juice Plus supplements daily, as well as a multivitamin and vitamin C supplements. Here are the illnesses that we have experienced- -First, strep with 2 of the kids, we...

I give her bath's a lot to try and help things. I let her lay on the flooor today with out a diaper for a while, but her bottom is still sooo chapped. She cries when we put medicine on her. 4 Year Old Potty Trained W/diaper Rash????

My son has allergies and sensitve skin. He has gotten some pretty nastey diaper rashes in the past. He's been potty trained for almost 2 years. But frequently he complains of his butt itching and begs me to Whipe him (and i don't do more than necessary). His butt area around his anus gets very red and sometimes there's teeny tiny bit of blood when he whipes... from that skin. We thought maybe he wasn't doing a clean enough job himself so we do the 'finishing touch'. Now we are considering the desposable whipes but i'm fearful it has to...
