I have a 6 year old boy.. and a 7 year old girl. I work part time and have a nanny come to my house to watch the kids get them breakfast and drive them to school. Today nanny called me. She said she thought the kids were big enough to get themselves ready for school without constant reminders. She said she had a talk with them today and told them that since they were big now.. she should not have to tell them to get dressed to put their pjs away and to brush teeth and hair... etc... they should just know the routine and do it.. ...

Growing Pains, Are They Really Painful?

My 3 (almost 4 year old son) woke up crying last night that his legs and knees hurt. He is extremely big for his age, he's 46" tall and weighs about 60lbs. He is very healthy. Is it possible for him to be feeling "growing pains" already? I do know that he's about to go through a growth spurt, but I'm not sure if that's what's causing his leg pain. He woke up this morning and says his legs are fine. What do you think? BTW - I gave him ibuprofen last night for the pain.

My 10-year old son and I just returned from a Bar Mitzvah. We were invited from a family in Sunday School class. There are 15 kids in the class, all ages from 5-13 years old. My 10 1/2 year old daughter recently asked when she would be allowed to shave. She has fair skin and dark hair, but I really don't think it's that bad because the hair on her legs is still thin. 6 Year Old Allowance

My daughter is almost 6 years old. She has no concept of money. She thinks that it is ALWAYS available to her. I want to start giving her an allowance, so she can buy her own afternoon snacks at school and whatever toys she thinks she must have. My question is how much of allowance do you give to a 6 year old? What are the task she must do, in order to earn the money? What about deductions, when she doesn't do anything?
