Could you tell me which ages you are wanting the child development books for?
What are you wanting them for exactly? If so I can give you great recommendations.
Thanks.
Dear All,
I would like to read for myself a good book on child development. Any recommendations?
Piaget? Erikson? Even a good text book for anyone who has studied this subject.
Many thanks.

I have always liked Dr. Brazelton's books.
I always recommend going to the library, checking out several books, and find one that feels "right" to you.
Make sure you're looking in the "child development" section, not "parenting" that's VERY different!
My personal favorite was always Dr. Sears, a doctor and dad of many, including one with Downs :)
I loved the book "How to Raise a Brighter Child". It was based on Dr. Montessori's (Montessori School) method of teaching. It gives great tips on things to do and say to your infant age child and up.
There's been a lot of recent research on child development, so I would recommend reading current books.
Here's one: "Welcome to Your Child's Brain: How the Mind Grows from Conception to College" by Sandra Aamodt, Sam Wang
And also: "NurtureShock: New Thinking About Children" by Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman
