Do you do cross stitch? My MIL gave my hubby a crosstitch she made with his commissioning date and 1st Lt on it along with the Marine Corps seal. She framed it and it still sits on our mantel, after 15 years.
We have a sweet girl from our church graduating from the University next month and the following day, will be commissioned into the US Air Force. We are invited to both events and the dinner in between. We are so excited for this young lady and blessed to know her and her family.
What would be a good gift for such an occassion? We don't have very much money (one income family) - So I can't really go overboard. I'm all about something lasting over something consumable (ie - candles, flowers, etc.).
Any ideas?

How about something that is personal? Maybe a memory of an event you shared printed on nice paper and framed...or a great pic of when she was younger that you have...again matted and framed nicely. Nothing beats the personal touch, especially as she looks upon it at a later date.
while a keepsake is an excellent idea....please remember that this young lady will be far from home & will not be able to enjoy the gift for the next few years!
Sorrrrry, I know that makes the job harder! I'm thinking a VISA gift card might be the way to go.....& I hate gift cards - but sometimes they just work.
It is difficult to know what to buy. How about a St. Christophers medal to keep her safe with her travels? Good luck.

She is moving into professional life. A nice pen set would be good, and you can find professional pen sets in all price ranges. Any office supply store should have a nice selection. This is something she can use for years.
i would do a card and then later send her care packages. I think she would really appreciate that.
Frame the invitation to the commission?
