I am a heart mom, my son was born with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) called Hypoplastic Left heart Syndrome (HLHS) so right after birth he was on a vent in NICU, had open heart surgery at 4 days old. He was not fed breastmilk until he was 2 weeks old, however in order for me not to lose my milk, I started pumping for him right a way. So I have milk two weeks before him and during his recovery he is eating very little. He can't even take more than one ounce by bottle, the rest goes through an NG tube.
