After 2 and a half years of being divorced in every way except the papers...I can finally file for divorce=) We had an odd sittuation when we were hit by a drunk driver and they didn't want us to file until it all was done. And wooohooo it finished today=) Now I can stop feeling so guilty for dating and being in love while legally married, while not living together (even though he cheated for years), It's nice to get this final piece done so we can move on. So anyone else have it take forever to file the actual papers?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Tracy yea we waited a while to decide, but after finding out he cheated 10 years and was never in love i think there was no other choice...but ehhh it got my daughter. It is bittersweet, I'm sad that the family unit will be forever gone or changed, that was something i would have never chosen, I'm the kind of person that thinks forever sn't enough if i'm in love but i couldn't make him feel the same way, and i've realized now it wasnt healthy, so while i'm not happy that it turned out this way, i'm glad this chapter is done=)
mzkitty, i always thought i;d feel that way, but circumstances change you, if you were in my shoes u would've had to wait 3 years...snmce i couldnt file until 2 and 1/2 years

Congratulations? Is that appropriate? I guess it is. Good luck and happy divorce to you and yours!

I made my husband wait a yr. I figured, it took us 5 yrs to decide to get married, lets give it a yr to see if this is something we really want to do. A yr later, he still did, so we got divorced. I'm sure he partied like a rockstar.

I filed for divorce on April 12 and it was final on June 28. LOVE AZ!!! I personally don't believe in dating at all while legally married even tho the marriage was "over" years before. I didn't date until a year after the divorce was final. I'm glad you are happy. I know what a relief it is. Good luck in your new life!

My divorce was final last thursday. It took forever. Good luck! Hopefully you have everything sorted out bc if one person is not cooperative it takes forever! I started the process in August 2010. TORTURE!!!
Anyway good luck to you! I hope it is quick and painless.
