Dr Linda Taylor of Womens Health is a great GYN-OB. She was voted "Top GYN in Hartford" and there is no better GYN-OB then her, kind and gentle and smart.

I am pregnant with my first and am using a practice of midwives. All my friends have used midwives as well and just love it. I use the midwives at the North Shore birth center in Beverly but my friends mostly used Liberty Tree midwives in Danvers. They all have back-up OB/GYN's for just in case you have a complication.

Hi M.
Congrats on the baby!! I am 32, have 5 boys and have been going to the same ob/gyn since I was 17. Soheil Hanjani( ###-###-####) , he is in Brockton right next door to Good Samaritan Hospital. He is a incredibly awesome doctor. He is a specialist in other gyn issues too. I love him..lol. Anyway Brockton (is not scary ..it has a bad rap but so do most cities) is probably 25 minutes from Swansea right? maybe a bit longer so it might be to long of a ride but check him out if you get a chance. Good Luck!!

I used Dr. Edwards (in Salem, NH) with my first, and he is not really into "natural" births...so he didn't really work for me.

For my second, I used Dr. Montanarella and Associates in Manchester, and they were fantastic! Linda, a midwife in that practice delivered my daughter VBAC. It was a complete opposite of the birth of my first child. They were so caring and organized and everything is very neat and clean. And Elliot is such an excellent hospital.

Hello! I am not sure where you live, but I go to Dr. Metcalf at Newton-Wellesley OB/GYN. It is located at Newton-Wellesley hospital and I love it there. For a pediatrician, we see Dr. Greenes at Needham Pediatrics and I would definitely recommend him as well! Best of luck and congratulations!!

Hello- I use Salem Pediatrics. I love them. I have met Dr. Steve Morgan and Dr. Cheryl D'Souza. They are both awesome. The practice has late hours, is on Highland Ave across from the hospital and have a sick waiting lounge and a well waiting lounge. That was huge for me. Let me know if you have other ?? about them. I work at Salem Hospital so I might be able to help.

If you are looking for a Doctor in the Boston area I use New England OB/GYN associates in Brookline. They are a great practice with awesome doctors! They are associated with Brigham and Women's - an excellent hospital. The practice and hospital are also the best you can get with high risk pregnancies - definitely recommend them!! I live an hour outside of Boston and it was definitely worth the drive!

Hey M.!
Congratulations! Take a look at www.ribirth.net. Lots of resources there and soon a growing list of docs, but the other folks listed on the site can help you with this too. When you are choosing a doctor, go with your GUT not just purely on recommendation. This is a VERY intimate relationship which you will need to cultivate over the next many months. Find out what your own philosophy is, and then pick your doctor or midwife based on how they line up with you. Also, get into a really good, non-hospital sponsored, childbirth education class. And read, read, read. In addition, I highly recommend that you see the film "The Business of Being Born." It is a very beautiful and incredibly informative film.
I am a doula and childbirth educator, so feel free to contact me directly with any other questions ;-)
Bright Blessings!

For an OB I would highly recommend mine. Dr. Ashley Ackerman ###-###-####. They are in Brookline and deliver at Brighams. My ped is Alewife Brook, Dr. McCarty ###-###-####. We love them as well. And they have great hours especially if you are going to continue to work after the baby - late hours Monday thru Thursday and Saturday and Sundays if needed.

Good luck

M.,
It would really help if we all knew where you lived!!
I go to Signature Health Care/BGPMA in Brockton, MA.
Only problem with that is you have to deliver at Brockton Hospital (I had my 18 mo old son there and will deliver there again this coming October). They are fine but Brockton scares me (gangs and too much crime).
Before I went to Crown Colony OB/Gyn in Quincy, MA I suggest trying to get Dr. Amanda Metzger she is AWESOME!!!
Good luck!

I loved Concord OB while I was pregnant. They have three different doctors there, and all of them wonderful. One is a male (Dr Travias), but he was my favorite! The nurses are great and helpful too.

M., I don't know where you live, but I'm in Framingham and love my OB. His name is Dr. Gottlieb and he's with Southboro Medical Group of Framingham, right on Route 9. They are a big practice that also includes adult medicine, pediatrics, and they have a lab on site. I know many people who go to him, or who use the practice and are very happy. I don't know if he's accepting new patients right now, but the number for the Framingham office is: ###-###-####.

I wish you a healthy pregnancy and an easy delivery.

Depends on where you live, obviously, nd what hospital you intend on using, but I recommend Shoreline OB-GYN in New London who uses L&M. I used OB-GYN Services in Norwich who use Backus for my first pregnancy. They ignored a red flag and I ended up with an emergency c-section, blood transfusions, and more at a hospital that's really more of a birthing center and not equipped for high risk complications. However, my sister swears by them, so if you have no health issues, or if you'd like to do natural hypnobirthing, they are a perfect hospital. Contact Andrea Damerron at Backus for hypnobirthing training.

With my health issues, however, I had my second child at L&M and all was well. Dr. Mayeda took excellent care of me and I will continue to go there.

Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Would you consider traveling to Boston for care? I used Boston OBGYN and loved them. It's an all-female practice and everyone is great. My actual doctor was Mimi Yum, but I saw everyone else while Dr. Yum was on maternity leave.

Hi M.,

I'm also from Swansea and am pregnant with my second child. I saw Dr Stacey Knox (Healthcare for Women)for my first and am currently seeing her for my second. She has offices in North Dartmouth, New Bedford and Wareham. I usually go to the one in New Bedford. So worth the drive. She delivers in New Bedford's St Luke's Hospital. My experience there as a first time was excellent and I would reccomend her and St Luke's to anyone.

I'm not in your area but make sure that your OB is aligned with your needs/wants for childbirth. Go on recommendations if you can. If you want a natural childbirth make sure that they're open to the idea and what specifically they will do to support you. I was very open & straightforward about wanting a natural childbirth and my OB was great about it. Some of my friends had OB's who really pressured them to use interventions while they were in labor. Just a thought!

Where are you located?? I live in Attleboro and traveled up to Dr. Philosophe on the Walpole/Foxboro line (right near the Patriots stadium). He is fabulous and his nurse practicioner Darcy is even better!
But just make sure no matter who you choose they have the same beliefs you do regarding meds, etc.
