Can you get pregnant after missing the last blue "active" pill and all of the white "inactive" pills? I quit taking them because I was having a minor health situation, but am going to start taking them again today and we had intercourse recently. I am not trying to get pg and know what happens when you don't use protection. I just need some helpful info on missing the pills. Also, in a couple weeks I have my yearly exam, should I have them give me a pregnancy test or would that be a little too soon?

What can I do next?

if it has been less than 48 hrs, take the morning after pill just to be safe, but you can only get pregnant when you are ovulating, and if you were in the third week of your active pills, then you ared probably okay.

If you have had perfect use (meaning you haven't missed any, had to double up or been really late) of your bc pills for the whole month and then didn't take the last one or the inactive (period week) ones, you won't get pregnant. The inactive pills are there to keep you used to taking a pill every single day and helps you to be more consistent. Generally, women who take a pill every day, including the inactive ones, have less accidental pregnancies. The big question is, have you had a period during the week you would have been taking the inactive ones. If not, you might want to consider using condoms for a couple weeks after the missed period and then doing a preg test. If negative, begin a new pack of pills after the next period. But using protection till you get back on the pill is important if you don't want to get pregnant.
Hope this helps

Missing the inactive pills makes no difference. I never took them - it seemed like a waste to me. They exist only to help women keep track. In theory, you're supposed to need to miss two pills to get pregnant on the pill, but since the pill is no 100% effective, yes, it is possible (although unlikely) to get pregnant after missing one. The doctor should be able to tell you if it is too early to take a pregnancy test.

Most likely you are fine. I mean there is always a chance of pregnancy when having sex but I doubt you are. I never took the inactive or reminder pills. That is just what they are inactive so that part doesn't matter. As for the one active pill i still think you are fine. Cause if you think about it you should start your period during the week that you are on the inactive pills which would mean that you ovulated 2 weeks before this. That means even missing that one pill you are too late in your cycle to get pregnant.

I believe you can get pregnant if you miss ANY of the active pills. If you go to the pharmacist, they can give you instructions on how to "catch up" - basically it involves doubling up on pills (but the amount you need to take may be different depending on what kind of pill you're on). They can also give you the morning after pill without a prescription, and basically that is the same thing as taking several normal birth control pills. I would definitely ask the pharmacist for help though, just to be sure you do it right.
