You can get pregnant at any time...even when you are on birth control (although not as likely).
My newborn baby was 3 months old when I became pregnant with my 2nd. Don't worry...if it happens it will be fun....hard but fun.
i have recently been on birth control for about 6 months.. i ran out for a couple weeks and had sex during that time.. i started taking them again, but i have yet to get my period and i am worried about possibly being pregnant.. i am terrified to take a test for fear of the result and wanted to maybe get an opinion before i make that trip to the drug store.. does anyone know how long after birth control u can get pregnant? i know it really depends on the person and can be a month or longer, i am just really worried because it is not the best timing, although if it is so, we will just know it was God sent and meant to be.. any advice??
i ended up going to the store and went to work for moral support from my friend and the test did come back negative.. although relieved there was slight thinking what if.. thank u for all of your words of encouragement and advice.. this site really is great and i wish you all love and happiness

Go get the test. I got pregnant with my first son b/c we were moving to Germany and I didn't account for the time change to take my pill, so in essence I was almost a day late taking one. I would want to know if I was pregnant and move on from there. Everything happens for a reason.
Girl, I hate to tell you, but you can get pregnant off of the pill if you forget to take it at the right time of day, much less forget for days! I got pregnant with my first child because I forgot to take the pill for one day; my OB said that you have to take them around the same time every day or they won't work properly. Scary huh? That is why I have an IUC now. No worries!
First you need to stay calm, your stress will prevent your period, which will make you more nervous...then you just need to think of posssitive things, and consider waiting at least another week or more. I have worried myself so much that I missed a month and freaked out, took like 5 tests, they came back negative, but I just could not believe it. Then I made peace with the fact that I might have another child and the next week my period came!! Any new activities in your life (like exercise, or stress related activities) can cause you to be late or miss a month. Trust your instincts
I'm really not sure how long after taking birth control you can get pregnant. I have heard that it is easy to get pregnant right after birth control, but I don't know how true that is. Can I just say, that I quit taking it and it only took once. The one and only time after I quit taking it, I got pregnant. So, if you haven't had your period, and you are worried you may be pregnant, it may be a good idea to go ahead and take a test. Your body may also be adjusting to the pill again, but to be safe, I would take the test again. Hope this helps.
I just came off my birth control pills and was pregnant 3 weeks later. It is different for every person but you may want to make that trip to the store!! (Just to ease your mind.) Plus if you ARE pregnant, you don't want to be taking birth control pills!!!
I don't know anything about the BC pills because I never took them. But, my mom got pregnant with my older sister while she was still taking the pill! I would go get a test just to be sure. You will at least know one way or another & can stop worrying/wondering if you are or aren't.
Also, I have the Mirena IUD. Boy would we be in trouble if I had to rely on taking the pill every day! I can't even remember to take vitamins or my allergy medicine every day! Plus, with the IUD, you won't "run out" for 5 years! haha
with some birth controls they can be less effective if you're not consistently taking them at the same time of day, if you went entirely off b/c for two weeks i think it's safe to say you were fertile.
why are you scared of the result? if it's positive you have more time to prepare and decide what to do. if it's negative you spend less time worrying.
Take a trip to the drug store. Good luck.
Sweetie, if you were off for two weeks, your're probably pregnant.
It always took a while for me to get pregnant after birth control pills, but like you said each person is different. You need to find out before you take any more pills. I have had 4 babies in four years, and then a six year break before having two more. I can tell you when you have them close together its great because they play together. Four of my 6 were not planned pregnancies but once I got over the initial shock, came very welcomed! If you pregnant I hope you get the same peace.
You can get pregnant WHILE TAKING birth control or even just missing 1 day. It's not 100% effective. Take the test!!!
You should read the info on your specific birth control. The one I was always on said if missed for even one day it would leave you especially fertil for up to 48 hours after getting back on track. It could also just be that missing 2 weeks through off your entire system. I would say you should go ahead and take that test. You don't want to keep taking birth control if you are pregnant. Good luck.
With both of my girls I got pregnant immediately after stopping the pill. You are right! God knows the best timing, just trust Him. Good luck!
Take a test. With just one missed day you can become pregnant. Good Luck
Take a test immediately and don't take the pills if you think you might be pregnant. Any day that you miss or don't take a pill, you could become pregnant, thus the reason for taking them on a daily basis.
If you miss 1 pill in a cycle you have a chance of getting pregant. So I suggest that you go get a test and make sure one way or the other.
You can get pregnant while on birth control so I would just go get the test because if you are pregnant taking the pill can damage the baby. I got pregnant on the pill for missing just one day!
I have heard of people getting pregnant taking the pill every day faithfully...BUT...also taking an antibiotic for an illness that popped up. For those few days the antibiotic was being used, the pill was ineffective...and that was all the time that was needed.
I would take the kit test...and go from there. I had some very close pregnancies, so know why you would prefer them not to be that close...for your body's sake...because it is still recuperating.
My first child was 12 months old when I got pregnant with number 2. And number two was 8 months old when I found out that I was pregnant with number 3....so, yes...check it out.

Well, this is what happened to me. I was on the pill for several years, and I ran out and didn't get any for about a week. During that week, I had sex, and I got pregnant! My doctor told me that when you stop taking it for a little bit, that is when you are most fertile. So there's a good chance you might be expecting! I hope everything turns out for the best!
You can get pregnant in as little as 2-3 days after stopping your birth control pills. I stopped mine and was pregnant within 1-2 weeks.
It is very possible you could be pregnant but it could also be that your body is getting use to being off the pill. Your period may be messed up. If you are pregnant, don't stress. It is great to have your kids close in age. It is hard the first year but it is so worth it.
You can get pregnant right away.
Trust me. Mine are 12 1/2 months apart. :)
I hate to tell you this, but when I was ready to get pregnant with my 2nd child...I stopped taking my birth control, thinking it needed to be out of my system for about 3 months before I could get pregnant. Well...I was pregnant within about 2 weeks. Good luck!
Hey M.,
How long were you off the pill? Usually women ovulate two weeks after a period. I would say that you are probably prego. I got pregnant right after I stopped taking birth control. It is that easy to get prego if you are fertile.
Best of luck to you! Even if you are prego, it is a blessing for God!
Sincerely,
Kimberly Baggett
i don't know who told you that it can work as long as a month after you stop taking the pill, but they were WRONG!!! i got off the pill oct. 29th., and was pregnate by nov. 9th. so i think that you need to go to the drug store.
L.
I don't know the time frame, but if your are with child, you need to know. The birth control may hurt the baby.

I got pregnant a week and a half after being on the pill.
You can get pregnant anywhere from the day you stop taking it to several months after. (There's even a slight chance of you getting pregnant while still on it. I actually met a girl who conceived all four of her children while on birth control)
If you are anxious to find out, you can buy pregnancy tests at the dollar store that are just as effective as the expensive ones at the pharmacy or drug store.
You can get pregnant a week later going off the pill.
It only took me about a week! It wasn't the best timing for us either, since my husband just took a new job in a new town, I had just quit mine and didn't have a new one yet, and we had no housing decided on yet! It was stressful at first but everything fell in to place. So, you're right, God has a plan and you just have to stand there and let God be God! :)
some people can get pregnant while on birth control. i got pregnant immediately after stopping use of my pill, so there is a good chance you could be pregnant. i would take a test right away because taking the pill while pregnant could cause a miscarraige.
You can get pregnant while on birth controll and especially soon after stopping. If you stop while taking birth controll, it can allow the release of an egg and if you have sex it can cause pregnancy. I would definitely take a test.
Birth control pills only last 24 hours, hence why you have to take them every day at the same time b/c they are easily cleared from your system. Get a test! They will be close together and you will be so glad they will have a best friend, wear the same size clothes. I really wish I would have had mine within a year together.
I have an aunt who got pregnant on birthcontrol, and my cousin who is currently due 1 week earlier than myself also got pregnant on birthcontrol because she was taking antibiotics. There is no timeline. If you miss one pill and have sex it could happen. You need to test because you could be endangering the fetus by continuing the birthcontrol. Good luck. Ill keep you in my thoughts.
well, i think you should quit worrying about the results. Because if you are pregnant and still taking the pills, you could maybe hurt the baby inside you. if you are pregnant, its not the babys fault! remember to get more pills next time or just get fixed.
Hi, I got pregnant with both of my children as soon as I quit the pill. You should get the test because you aren't supposed to take birth control while pregnant.
J.
I went off birth control pills and was pregnant the next month, so it's completely possible.
I was in serious denial, too. I had only been married 2 months!! But I wouldn't change a thing, and I bet you'll feel the same way. Good luck!
M. T - Oh, how I know the feelings you are feeling. I was a faithful (almost neurotic) birth control user and despite all my efforts, got pregnant while on the pill. So, you don't have to be off the pill at all to get pregnant. While I know it is different for every one and I had some health issues which may have affected the way the pill worked for me, nothing is 100% when you use it correctly, let alone when you miss them for a couple of weeks. Best get the answers you need so you can wrap your head around the situation. Best of luck to you.
I'd go to the drug store and get the test! The possibility of being pregnant while taking birth control is there and the drugs are not good on a pregnancy!! Good luck and know that either way the test turns out, it is a blessing from HIM!
Much like one of the others I was breastfeeding and on low dose pill and got preg with my second daughter, now they are only 2 days less than a year apart. And my last . . . I was off bc pills for a month cause I ran out and my hubby was deployed . . . well I restarted a couple of weeks before he returned and we were preg right after his deployment (son 5 mos). A matter of fact all three are after deployment babes, lol. But seriously it doesn't take much to get preg if you missed a couple of pills. . . that's why they say if you miss a day than just double up but more than that you have to restart your regime and are not safe for two weeks! Hope that God blesses you in whatever he wills for you . . . GOOD LUCK!
most birth control lasts from several months after you stop taking them but then there is that one rule which you could fall under maybe the reason you haven't started is because you are afraid you are pregnant after about 6 weeks take a pregnant test then you will know for sure good luck, I am sure you want other children but not that close but first 2 children are seventeen months apart I skiped one pill and 9 months later bingo but I am that exception to the rule I got pregnant on the pill it had a 25% rating and here I am good luck.
M.,
If there is any chance you could be pregnant, you should not be taking birth control at all. Women have been know to get pregnant while on birth control with only missing one pill. You need to talk to your doctor ASAP. Have faith, and know that HE will only give you what HE knows you can handle.
If you're wanting to wait a little longer before having a second baby then you should stop taking the birth control and stop having sex until you find out for sure whether you are pregnant or not.
What happens if you take birth control pills while you're pregnant?
If you continued taking your birth control pill because you didn't realize you were pregnant, don't be alarmed. Despite years of this accident happening, there's very little evidence that exposure to the hormones in birth control pills causes birth defects.
Still, the birth control pill is a potent estrogen. Lessons learned from women who took diethylstilbestrol — a synthetic estrogen that was later linked with cancer — to prevent miscarriage in early pregnancy suggest that such exposure should be minimized.
Once you learn that you're pregnant, stop taking the birth control pill.

girl, go take the test, and stop worrying. there's no point in going through all that stress. you could very well be pregnant and if you are , you shouldn't be taking those birth control pills,, best wishes and i'll be praying for you.
I got pregnant on the pill. no antibiotics no skipped pill just no period and when I found out i was already 3 months. but the upside to this is when you take birthcontrol your periods are made regular. if you have not had your period and are on them now there is a tiny chance that your period will come at the end of your pill pack when it is supposed to and your fine. but you can get your period and still be pregnant. I know I was there. I would get the test just to make sure and if your not be real careful for a while. it only takes one missed pill and your body can drop an egg. good luck.
Missing one pill is enough to cause you to ovulate. Go take a test, and if you are pg, stop the bc pills immediately. If you aren't, make sure that you use a back up method for at least 2 weeks, or until you finish the pill pack and AF returns whichever is longer.
Good luck! In the future remember to take your pill at the same time every day, and always abstain or use a back up for at least 2 weeks any time you miss one pill. And always ask your doctor or pharmacist about how any medication can affect the pill's effectiveness. Many antibiotics can render the pill useless while taking them, and there are other medications that can affect them as well.
It really can take a while (depending on the person's body). I haven't taken a birth control pill since Dec. 3rd and I'm not pregnant and me and my husband are regulars. So, it really does depend on that person. I would still take the test, you don't want to risk anything.
The chances are slim that you are pregnant, although you could be, and if you are, the pill can cause damage to the fetus. My guess is that you altered your cycle by not taking the pills at the right time and therefore delayed your period. Take the test and then you can relax.. You need to know either way. B. S. RN,CCm
I have two boys and it took me a while with both after I quit taking my birth control. I think ur body may just be reacting to the change from taking them, stopping and then taking them again.
M., if there is a possibility of pregnancy, go to a doctor immediately. Taking birth control while pregnant can cause a lot of birth defects in the fetus. And if you are pregnant, avoiding the issue is not going to change the situation!
Otherwise, you could have some other problem going on that is causing you not to have a period. This needs to be checked out too. Take care of yourself. Your son needs a happy, healthy mommy!
I finished my pack of pills and stopped taking them (hoping to conceive) and got pregnant before I had my next period.
Ummmm...I was on birth control for 3 months before my wedding, my mom was supposed to pick up my refill the day before the wedding and kept forgetting and she finally ended up having it sent to my room on my 2nd day of my honeymoon (3 or 4 days later), and apparently it was too late. A couple weeks later, I found out I was a couple of weeks pregnant. It only takes 1 missed pill and one time without it.

SAHM of 4 (6, 5, 3, & 9mos)
p.s. If you're nursing and on the low dose birth control that you have to take when you're nursing, they're only like 80% effective anyway, and I got pregnant w/ #2 when #1 was 5mos old and I was taking that birth control.
I was shocked and scared at first, but I'll tell you that having those 2 that close has been the best thing in the world, and I'd recommend that age difference to EVERYONE. If we could have had our way, we'd have had a 5 or 6yr break after the first 2 then had two more 12-15mths apart, but God had other plans for us.
