I feel pretty confident that it's from doubling up the pill. I used to get violently ill from taking the first pill or doubling up when I missed a day on accident. If you were pregnant, the nausea usually doesn't start until you are about 6 weeks pregnant (which is essentially 4 weeks after conception). Lastly, I hate to nag like a mom but you really should be more careful. I am almost 34 years old and raising children is ridiculously hard!!!! I don't know how old you are but it doesn't sound like you are ready for this incredible responsibility (also, having children almost always puts a ton of stress on a relationship). Good luck. I bet everything is fine.

It very well could be the pills, as they tend to have the same effect on me if I have to take more than one at a time. Also, it's doubtful that you would be experiencing nausea so soon even if you were pregnant. But better to be safe...take a pregnancy test.

Hi, I don't think you would be throwing up from being pregnant. Too soon for that UNLESS you were already pregnant. You CAN get pregnant taking the pill. More than likely it's from taking too many pills at one time. You can always get a pregnancy test, one that says it can find out within a few days. Otherwise, it could be a tummy virus. If you are too worried you can always go to the Dr, but again, I don't think you'd be throwing up this soon. Good luck.

Some of the women below have not been giving you the best advise by saying just to quit taking the pill. First off, you have already mentioned that you don't seem able to keep from having unprotected sex and if you quit taking the pill you need to be using other protection, such as a condumn or possibly a diaphram if you don't want to trust your boyfriend to use a condumn. Second off, you should never double up on the pill if you are more than a day behind it won't help you any. You really need to read the information that comes with your prescription very carefully. You could overdose on the pill just like any other medication. Please be careful and responsible. Take it from someone who knows. I have 3 children, and I got pregnant the first time when I was 16 years old. No body really talked to me about sex and how to protect yourself. Please listen to these warnings and be sure you are ready to have sex before you continue on. It doesn't sound to me like you are ready. I know I was not ready for what happens when you do get pregnant. I was thrust into being a mother at the age of barily 17, and I got to tell that it's very hard. You could be pregnant, but I would not think that you would have the sickness this early into it. So my suggestion to you is to continue to take your pills, and use extra protection. Maybe just stop and make sure you know what you are doing before you continue on. If you need to talk to someone, I'm here. You can send me an email directly. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you, and how old is your boyfriend?

The vomiting was most probably a result of all those BC pills you took in one day. That is NEVER the correct plan of action. With medication, more is not better! I'm a pharmacist and know this as fact. The correct plan of action depends on what type of BC pills you take. If they are the ones that you take continuously, with no days off for a period, and you have been on them at least 21 days continuously (before missing any days), you don't need to worry or have a back up method of birth control unless you have missed 7 days of your new pack. If , however, they are the traditional BC pills that you take for 3 weeks then take 7 days off or take placebos or iron pills for 7 days, the proper thing to do during WEEK 1 of your new pack is to take a pill ASAP and then continue on with your pack. You would need back up contraception for 7 days and consider emergency contraception (Plan B) for unprotected sex within the past 5 days. Unless you are in a stable and permanent relationship, unprotected sex is never a good idea for numerous reasons. Take a pregnancy test ASAP! If you're not pregnant, resume your pills and count your blessings (and use an alternate form of contraception along with your pills for 7 days!)

A.,
While I have some questions about how regularly you have been taking your bc pills, it sounds like your nausea and vomitting are probably from taking three pills so close together, rather than from pregnancy. In fact, the emergency contraceptinve, in the past anyway, has been taking a double dose of the pill. If one is able to keep the hormones in her system, taking the two pills can trigger a period. Having been pregnant five times, and suffering extreme nausea each time, I can tell you that for me the nausea did not begin until the "sixth" week (about four weeks post-conception)of the pregnancy. Also, if you had been taking the pill regularly, your ovulation was likely suppressed, and you would not have had an egg to be fertilized even during your unprotected sex. The pill can also cause your uterine lining to thin, so a fertilized egg would not have had a place to implant. Needless to say, you would want to get a pregnancy test done if your cycle does not go back to normal (whatever normal looks like since you've been taking the pill). Of course, if you have not been taking the pill regularly, it would be hard to predict whether or not you are pregnant. But one thing I can definitely tell you is that taking three doses of the first hormone pills in a new pack would be enough to make you puke. Hope all this helps.

p.s. are you sure you're ready for all this??!!

My dear, you need to get some medical counseling about how the birth control pill works. First of all, you should NEVER double up on birth control pills! They won't "undo" a pregnancy that may already be started, and they could make you really sick.

Secondly, why in the world would you have unprotected sex if you knew you hadn't taken the pill for three days? There ARE other forms of birth control that don't require a prescription--although they're not as reliable as the pill.

I'm sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but if you are mature enough to be having sex, you should be mature enough to protect yourself from an unwanted pregnancy. Use your head, girl--your boyfriend won't be the one giving birth or having to get by on one hour's sleep a night because your baby has colic.

The same exact thing happend to me 16 years ago. Exactly as you describe. I didn't pick up my pills, so I missed a few days of taking them, had sex a few times during the days of not taking the pill, then when I finally picked my pills up from the pharmacy,I took all of the missed pills at one time and then I got sick, nauseated and throwing up. Exact scenario that you describe. That is when my son was conceived. I found out about three weeks later that I was pregnant. Good luck!

It was most likely due to taking so much birth control and possible anxiety. I have forgotten to take pills before and have not gotten pregnant. However, at the recommendation of my doctor when my husband and I had a similar situation, I stopped taking them until I could test and find out for sure. There are women who have taken pills early in pregnancy without knowing about the pregnancy and had healthy babies. Whether you stop taking pills temporarily or not, it isn't a bad idea to take a test in about a month or so just to be sure, the pill will not affect the results of a pregnancy test. In the meantime, try to relax. You are most likely not pregnant, but if you are, you will be OK and you will have nine months to sort things out and get ready. It really is a blessing they don't show up right when we find out sometimes:) I would call the doctor and get some direction at this point.

Just to be on the safe side, I would stop taking the pill until you know for sure. It will probably be a couple of weeks to get confirmation, but taking the pill while you are pregnant is not advisable. Get a home pregnancy test or go to Planned Parenthood.

The throwing up could be because of the pills, or it could be that you are stressing yourself out. In any case, stop taking them and take a home pregnancy test. Or if you are really stressed about it, go to Planned Parenthood and talk to someone there. Good luck.

You need to re-read your request. Confusing.
You said you could not have sex on Friday, Saturday or Sunday b/c you were out of town YET you state that you had sex on Saturday. Huh?

Morning sickness is not going to start with in a few days of pregnancy. I don't think its EVER recommended to take 3 pills in one day and I wouldn't doubt if that is what made you vomit.

You need some counseling on the pill. You can even talk to a pharmacist (not a pharmacy tech, a real pharmacist) about this. Or please talk to your doctor or a nurse. They can consult you over the phone.

You pills always come with instructions from the pharmacy. Take some time to sit down and read them.

You are WAY off on how to take the pill properly. It will not be effective in the manner you have taken it. One missed day is all it takes to get pregnant.

Also, check into the "Morning After" pill. Sounds like you need that option in your life. Good luck.

I'm no doctor and don't know what kind of pills you take, but I know that when I was on them (now recently married and pregnant for the first time after going off) - I was a bit sporadic and would miss taking them often enough and never got pregnant. But I do remember that I was never supposed to take more than two in a day to "catch up". So it was probably the pills and stress that made you sick (or sushi?). I would talk to your pharmacist today. You don't have to go to the doctor or anything - a Walgreens will do. She might tell you to wait a while before taking a pill again. But I also don't think that you would be sick in the two days after fertilization. That's not to say you're not pregnant, though. Say a prayer, and if you don't want to be pregnant, stay away fom your boyfriend for a day or two! :)

It was the pill. You can't take that many at once. Please read the package insert or talk to your doctor about what to do if you miss dosages. You wouldn't have morning sickness until you are around 6 weeks pregnant.

Anytime you miss taking your pill it makes you much more fertile, so I would advise not taking any more pills and do Not have sex until you know for sure weather you are or aren't pregnant. If you are pregnant - taking the pills is not good for the baby. If you are not pregnant, then you can resume taking your birth control pills and no harm is done. (I am a nurse)

I would think that you overdosed yourself on birth control pills which can cause head aches and vomiting. I doubt if you be nauseated that fast from pregnancy.

Well... If think you are pregnant, you need to stop taking the pill. (Mess up the baby's development.)

I'm confused... you finished your packet and immediately started a new packet... You didn't wait the week for your period? So, essentially you went a week without birth control. So, yes, you could ovulate during that week. However you also double-upped your pill (took 2 in one day)... So, that could make you nauseous. (Believe me, it can make you very nauseous!) Once upon a time I was on a pill that was too strong and the first week of it always gave me fake morning sickness.

If I were in your shoes, I would STOP taking the pill. That means buy a box of condoms. Get polyuertene if you don't like the feel of latex ones. Then, you should get your period. That will tell you if you're preggers or not. Once your period is over, start a brand new packet of pills. REALLY IMPORTANT: Carry the old packet (that you just started this week and won't be able to use because its not a full month) in your purse as your emergency back-up in case you find yourself in the same situation, without your pills).

why did you take 3 birth control pills? that is not going to stop you from getting pregnant. you would have been better off taking the morning after pill, then starting a new pack of birth control pills. if you ran out on wednesday then you should have started your period depending on what type of bc you use, really that's all the last week in your pack is,no hormones to trick your body into thinking it is prego therefore you have a period..

you threw up because you overloaded your system by taking 3 bc pills in one day. take it easy and take it right.one a day is all you need.

As others have said, you are throwing up from the pills, not pregnancy. When you went to the pharmacy you could have asked for "plan B" it doesn't require a prescription, although it's most effective the morning after.

My sister did not realize she was pregnant and took BC pills for the first few weeks. She stopped when she found out but the baby died at 12 weeks (by that time the baby is several inches long.) She said that the baby was very messed up when she delivered (at home in her toilet.) The birth control pills made the baby not develop properly.

The next pregnancy she was taking the pills and when she found out she was pregnant she was SO SCARED! But that baby turned out ok (she was taking the "mini pill" and stopped sooner then she stopped the previous pregnancy.)

There is really no way to no for sure this early. My bet would be "not pregnant." You are right to think doubling-up on the pill can cause nausea and vomiting. So that's a possibility. And if you did get pregnant last week, it's not common for pregnancy to cause nausea only a few days after conception. You may just have to wait another week and try a pregnancy test.

Do you have a regular cycle on the pill? If so, and it's approximately a 28-day cycle, then you probably were ovulating somewhere between days 12-17. So if you can remember what day you started your period, then look at the calendar and try to determine if you had sex within days 12-17 after your period. It's not perfect science, unless you know for sure when you ovulate. But there are only about 2 days a month you can actually get pregnant, so the odds can be slim.

Anyway...maybe that will give you some things to help you determine whether or not you could be pregnant. Then just hang in there & get a pregnancy test in a week or so.

Good luck...either way.

A. you may need to take a pregnancy test. And please do so before you take your next pill because you should stop taking them altogether if you are pregnant. You also need to contact your physician in either case. I pray yu and your boyfriend have been together for sometime and plan to get married. Trust me it is more meaningful and beneficial to have a spouse as you indulge in things of this nature. Remember, birth control can't solve all your problems because their are even more consequences for having unprotected sex than pregnancy.
