I just had a similar problem with my 6 month old daughter. She and I both had some "funny" spots, that looked exactly the same. I thought they might be ringworm. We went to the doctor. She was certain it wasn't ring worm, but didn't have any idea what it was. She wasn't much help. I was pretty certain it was some sort of fungus or bacteria. I decided to try Neosporen on mine to see if it made any difference. Mine started to clear up within a few days. I went ahead and started my daughter on it as well, and after 5 days of treating it, it is almost gone. The only thing I tried to be careful of was my daughter getting the cream on her hands (since they are her favorite chew toy : ) If she did get it on them while I was changing her diaper, I would just wipe them off with a diaper wipe. I'm not exactly sure what "IT" was, but the Neosporen worked like a champ. You might give that a try.
