Hi Moms,

I forgot to mention in my earlier request that if you also have a recommendation for a potty training DVD, I'd love to hear about it, too.

Thanks!

All of my children liked "Once Upon a Potty" and "It's Potty Time" that we checked out of the library. Good luck!

Hi D.:
It's wonderful, that your daughter is showing interests in using the potty. Success, for you and your daughter can be achieved,by doing exactly what your doing. Planning, and coming up with the best approach. Because, you've already been made aware, that children this age are quickly becoming independent, and want to feel they have some say so,especially when it involves their bodies. You need to keep that in mind.Let her think this whole big girl potty thing is all her idea! Don't pressure her,or appear frustrated, when she has accidents.Just let her know your only there to HELP her prove to everyone what a big girl she is.Don't make the mistake of leaving her on the potty for long periods of time,or she will become reluctant to go because it deprives her of play time. Yes, there will be times she sits on the potty ,gets off and then goes in her pants 5 minutes later, however none of us are capable of having A bowel movement ON DEMAND.Don't bother with those little seats you place on the floor. She will think its cute at first, then after a while wonder why,if shes a big girl she isn't using the same one as everyone else in the household. Also, once she is fully trained, the first time your out in public, and she can't wait, you won't be able to get her to sit on A regular commode ,because it will be awkward and she'll be scared to use it. The idea is to make transitions as easy for our children as possible. If you start her on the commode, she won't have to adjust to something totally different.I wish I had a book or video for you,I'm sure some of the other mothers will have some great ones. Most Important, is patience, understanding, positive feedback, and of course making sure she knows, that your just there to lend support. Remember,It's her goal to please YOU. I wish you and your growing girl the best. J. M

Both my kids loved the "Once Upon A Potty" DVD, based on the very popular book. It comes in both a boy and a girl version. We rented ours from Netflix!
