I need advice about potty training!! Is there a book I should read? My 2 year old little boy has been interested, and will "kind of" use the potty, but I feel like I shouldn't let this opportunity pass. I dont even know where to begin. What book is THE BEST for moms like me who need step by step advice and instruction??
Thank you in advance for any help! :)

What can I do next?

Hi J. H. I can't think of any book right off hand but my daughter brought my grandson a DVD called Elmo Gos Potty or Elmo Potty Training and it help him get the idea.

Get the POTTY POWER DVD. My daughter watched it when turned 3 and was trained in a weekend. They get so excited about the DVD that they just want to do it. It might be harder for boys. You can get it at the library too....

Hi J.

I would check out the e-book at www.3daypottytraining.com. It is 25 bucks, but well worth the money. My daughter was pretty much potty trained in the 3 days. Completely trained within a week. I absolutely loved this method. It takes you step-by-step and even has commonly asked questions and answers included. Good luck!

The book that I LOVED was "Potty Training for Dummies." It was my bible during the potty training months. Good luck!

I love the book potty training in less than a day. However, I wouldn't count on the less than a day part. Most kids don't get the hang of it that soon. Remember to stay focus on the dry part, are your underpants dry, yeah!, instead of did you wet them or do you need to go.

good luck!

It seemed like no matter what book or dvd I used...she just waited until she was ready. It did seem like she loved the Elmo potty book and dvd. Good luck!

The main thing is to remain calm and patient throughout the whole thing.

I have the No-cry Potty Training Solution by Elizabeth Pantley. But my daughter also had up and down days. She started being interested at 18 months, was pretty much trained at 2.5 yrs but recently, after illnesses and quite a few trips, she lost interested and we're starting over.

For my daughter, I have a bunch of books that I read to her while she's on the potty. I think she responded to reading about others using the potty more than any other methods I have tried. The first 2 books have boy or girl versions.
Once upon a potty
The Potty Book
A Potty for Me
Potty Time with Elmo
Everyone Poops

I keep this quick and easy....

No reading, just doing- Make it game for him. Throw in a few Froot Loops into the toilet and tell him to aim to see if he could hit them. He'll want to do it again and again. You'll be finding him in the bathroom alot

I swear by the method I learned from DR Phil where you potty train in one day. I am a mother of three and a home daycare provider. When your child is ready you can really have them mostly trained in one day. My daughter was 23 months old and only had two accidents during waking hours. She needed to be in pull ups at night for another 6 months because she sleeps so soundly she never woke to pee. My son also had only 2 accidents, but I didn't potty train hom until the week he turned three. He never had any accidents at night. (Maybe his bladder was more mature than my daughter's since he was older?) Just last week I helped potty train a 3 1/2 year old in my daycare. He wasn't interested in it, so it took him closer to a week to be completely trained. From my experience potty training over 30 children I know that it should be quick and easy. If it isn't, the child is probably not ready yet.
