Happy Saturday! There is a meteor shower tonight that will hit it's climax from 2-4am PST. I had totally forgotten about it and was sitting outside - lucked out and saw the most brilliant of meteors as it plummeted across the skyline. So cool. I'm hoping I will actually wake up for more when my husband gets home from work. When I'm asleep, very little seems attractive other than my bed. So we'll see ;-) Anyway, just thought it worth a shout out.

Can you see it from where you are?

What can I do next?

About 10:30 we loaded the kids and dog in the truck and headed east. We live too close to the ocean to avoid that summer cloud cover. About 15 minutes into our little valley the sky cleared and the stars were amazing.
We parked on a hilltop, piled into the back of the truck with blankets, pillows & popcorn. The coyotes serenaded us while the shooting stars put on a show. Such a sweet moment with my family, we are blessed.

I haven't seen any yet but I am watching. It is a nice, clear night so I'm hopeful.

My mom watches every year as a birthday gift to herself so I'm hoping she sees a few.

We had a date night last night and thought we'd be able to hit the beach and watch them, but a thunderstorm rolled through. Bah! We went out to eat, talked a lot, went to a movie, and came home. We kept trying to peek out to see stars but it was so cloudy and all we ever saw was lightning. BUT as we were walking from the car to the door, I stopped because there was a little "hole" where we could see stars. We paused, and sure enough, we saw one! Just the one though. :P We'll try again tonight.

I wanted to see it so bad, but our car is acting up so we couldn't drive to a dark enough place to see it. These stupid city lights wash out the stars so much, that from my front yard I could only make out 2 normal stars. :(
