I have heard good things about Erik Runyan Jewelers.
Hi there,
I have a bunch of jewelery that I would like to have appraised. Does anyone know of a good, trustworthy jeweler to take it to? I inherited some of it from my grandma and I have no idea if any of it is even real or costume (she was known for having lots of both...). Thanks in advance! S.

Crown Jewelers in Clackamas is where I had my ring appraised. It's a travel from the west side though. I liked that they had a gemologist come in and do apprasials in the store. I beleive they do this once a month. So there is no sending out of your jewelry and you can watch if you want to. He'll print up a insurance apprasial and one for you witha digital photo and all. If at all possible I would try to find someone that is certified in the gemology field and that you can have do on the spot.
If you're in Portland, I absolutely recommend Klein Jewelers, downtown. They're a small family business that's been around here for generations. Rod and Kathy are very nice, and knowledgeable. They can write you a certificate of appraisal if you need to have something insured.
I really like the proprietor at Snow Owl Designs on Beaverton Hillsdale. I took my ring in and he sent it out for an appraisal, but I vaguely recall he may have given me a ballpark figure ahead of time. Because he is a small business owner and has a really great small staff, I felt great about relying on them to advise and help me. They really know how to treat a customer. And-- if you ever need someone to help you design some jewelry, they would be the ones.
