Has anyone tried the "Cash 4 Gold" where you send in your old gold jewelry pieces? I'm thinking of doing it but am not quite sure, as I haven't heard anything about it - good, bad or otherwise. Have you all tried it or know of anyone who has? Thanks!
My husband has 3 businesses in the DFW area that all buy gold. He pays approx 77% of the spot daily market value. Pawn Shops pay approx 40%, jewelry stores 60-70%, online 45-50%. I have a home decor business in Keller and will soon be buying gold also. If you would like more info, please email ____@____.com.

I had a gold party at my house, and made a ton of money! It was great! I made over $2,000 with my own gold, commission off my guests' gold, and money from guests' booking their own parties. If you are interested in learning more, contact:
Please tell her J. H. sent you, and I'll make another $100! ;)

I took mine to a reputable jewelry store and got an appraisal for free and sold it to them. He is Nr. Ford at the corner of Pioneer Parkway (Hwy 303) and Bowen in Arlington.

Take it to a local jewelry store instead. They will weigh it in front of you and give you the price per ounce (I think that is how it is weighed/priced)that it is going for that day. I took a few pieces to Gold & Silver Exchange at Preston/121 a few months ago and got quite a bit. They melt it down so if you have any stones you want to keep you can take them out after they look at it and they will re-weigh. There is also a Gold & Silver Exchange in Richardson. I have seen several stores with signs out that they are buying.

Sounds like a rip off to me. I would never send anything of value to anyone with no guarantee that I would be compensated.
We deal with coins a lot and have found the Dallas Gold and Silver is a good place. We've done business with them and feel like we were treated fairly.
We have not sold any gold, as in scrap or old jewelry but they do deal with that. You might call first because they have moved to a larger location and I am not sure where that is now.
Good luck.

Some jewelry stores and almost all pawn shops are currently buying scrap gold. You might try there.

I sent some jewelry to them. They offered only a small fraction of what gold was selling for at the time. I refused the offer and they did return my jewelry. There was a recent news show about the selling of gold. Possible the 'gold parties' you hear about may offer better prices. Cash4Gold was stated as 'low-balling'. Sorry I do not remember who aired the segment but perhaps you can find it on the web.
Good luck,

DON'T do it!! If you ever watch fox 4 news then you know who Steve Noviello is. He did a segment on the Cash For Gold, he went to a couple of places around town to get an estimate on his gold jewlery. Then he sent in the exact same jewelry to "Cash for Gold" and they basically ripped him off....Cash for Gold paid him something like $250 for the gold and he could have gotten anywhere from $500-$700 for his jewelry if he would have sold it locally. Rmember "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"!!

I would be terrified to send gold through the mail. It would be safer and faster to do it in person at one of the jewelry stores mentioned in other responses. Fullers Jewelry also buys gold.

There is a guy who goes around the Mid-cities area buying gold at garage sales. If you've had a garage sale in Bedford he's probably been to it!
I've sold to him a couple times and even referred friends and family who have too. He bought my jewelry for more than I was quoted at two other jewelers. Contact me if you'd like his info.

Dear C.,
You may come out better by taking your Gold to a local Jewelry store for appraisal. You would have more control over the sell.
You could loose all of it to a strange vender.
I do not feel very trusting to the Inernet.

I've never tried it but might I suggest there are places locally like (not sure where you live) Dallas Gold and Silver, Gold and Silver Exchange (check yellow pages, super pages.com) that do pretty much the same thing. This way you have control of your jewelry. I had a few pieces of old gold jewelry and I took mine in and received $65.00 which I thought was good for what I had. It's based on weight and the price of gold at the particular time you take it in.
Blessings,

I heard on Fox 4 news to not send any gold in thru the mail, cause you can't see them weigh it,etc... They could be telling you one thing and then it actually weigh differently and worth another amount.
There are Cash 4 Gold type parties in peoples homes and they said that was okay. You can also take it to any jewelry store and then can tell you how much it is worth/weight. They said to take it to someone local or where you can see them actually weigh it.

I took mine to Duff's Jewelry Store in Flower Mound. You might call first, I think they only buy certain days of the week. And I know there are a couple of Gold and Silver stores that buy that are in the metroplex. I wanted to be there when they were weighing my stuff. Good luck!

Whenever you wonder whether something is a scam or not, check the internet and see if some people out there are complaining about it or exposing it as a scam. If you put in the key words "Cash 4 Gold," you will see lots of reports about it being a scam. There are legitimate places to sell your gold based on weight and size and the internet can help you determine its value and places to go locally. Don't let go of your items and hope that you will get a fair price back (or any money at all).

Do not send your gold any where. There are places all over town that will purchase your gold. First, go on line and see what gold is selling for. Go to a store, have them weigh it and see what they are paying. Should be close to what gold is trading for that day. I did this when my Mom passed away. If you mail it away, you don't know how much gold you have or what they pay.

They only pay about 1/4 of the value. You would have better luck taking into several local jewelry shops and having them make an offer and picking the largest offer. Many melt it down to use with custom jewelry. The home parties that are becoming very popular also pay higher dividends, I believe 80% of the value. You should be able to find the company on Google (home party sell gold) and possibly have a home party yourself. I hope this helps.

I used cash for gold and do not feel like I got what my gold and silver were worth. I had previously sold some gold and silver to Arlington's Gold & Silver Exchange (it is actually more in Pantego) and feel like I got a better deal. I tried Cash for Gold because they said they pay more because they cut out the middle man. But I would not do it again.

I saw a news article on this a few weeks ago. They had their jewerly appraised by a jeweler and then sent it to one of the cash for gold places to see what they would pay. They were offered less than 50% of the value of the jewelry. The cash for gold company makes hugh profits.
You might search the web for the article.

I have not used it but it seems a little suspect to me. What if you don't agree with the price they offer? They've already got your merchandise. Or what if they claim they didn't receive it at all? I think dealing with someone in person would work a lot better. Looks like you've got some great suggestions on where to go for this...
Good luck!

I would do research on the internet before doing anything. I watched something on the news some time back and Joanne K is right on the money. The Cash for Gold people will offer you a VERY low price at first and when you call to complain because you want your jewelry back they'll offer you a higher price. I'm sure that if you do some research you'll probably find a video of the news cast. They recommend that you go to local jewelry stores (not pawn stores), you'll probably get more out of selling your gold there.
Good luck!

The hype about buying gold these days is so prevelant I would not think that sending your gold away would be any more lucrative than shopping around to the seemingly endless "Gold and Silver" places we have here in the metroplex. If you get price quotes, be sure to know the retail price per ounce, and be able to convert between grams and ounces.

I sent some necklices and big gold ring and I received a check that wasn't worth my time and when I asked for it back they offered double the price!! I was like why didn't they give that to me first of all?? So when I got my jewlry back my necklace was damaged and got nothing back! So if you decide to go with them protest the amount first quoted you.

I tried it and I was very disappointed. I had sent in several pieces of jewelry that I easily could have took to the pawn shop and could have gotten more for it there. I would not waste my time with it. I only got back 1.00 for a ring that I had bought from a jewelry store closing. Go to the pawn shop instead.

I've been researching this a bit lately myself. What I have found through the research is that the mail in Cash4Gold places, especially the ones that advertise like crazy on tv, have tons of negative BBB reports and that they way undersale you and that their envelopes that they send you to put in the mail box are not really insured and there is no proof that you ever sent anything. There is this one site-- www.goldfellow.com that seems better. They claim to give better pricing, send you an insured Fedex package to send your stuff in with tracking number. On their website they have were you can track the processing of your jewelry and then you accept or decline the offer. If you accept, they give you the choice of payment through PayPal or an overnighted check by FedEx. They FedEx the jewelry back to you if you decline.
Also, there are some places nearby that buy gold. Just type jewelry exchange and fort worth (I did North Richland Hills) and a list of two or three places in the metroplex come up with websites and contact info.
I have not but my mom and sister took their gold jewelry they never wear to a jewelry store in Lewisville that gives cash for gold. They both took in a few pieces and got over a hundred dollars each. They were very happy with it. I would suggest going into a store instead of mailing in case you don't get the money you were expecting. Good Luck!
