Banana boxes from the grocery store work great. They are easy to use because they have handles. They are big enough to hold a lot of stuff but not so big thay they weigh a ton (and wear out the movers) :)
I hope you all can help me. My husband and I are moving in June and need to know where we can get a lot of boxes for packing. If you know please tell me.
Thanks in advance

Call your local Wal-Mart or Target and ask for the night manager. Tell them your in need of boxes and you'd like to get some. They usually will set some boxes aside for you to pick-up in the morning. You haved to ask for the night manager, so that person will know not to crush all the boxes after they stock the store at night. I've done this serval times. They will do the same thing at Miejer.

When we've moved, we've put the word out with both of our companies and our friends to save boxes that come in at work. Companies are always receiving things, and computer boxes are really handy for moving linens and things like that.
There are also always postings on chicago.craigslist.org under the free section for moving boxes that people are giving away.
You can also go to your local grocery store and ask if they have any boxes in back that haven't yet been compacted. Banana boxes are very good for moving books :)
Good luck!

Well, I have had luck going to grocery stores or other retail stores and asking for their cargo boxes...they will just compact them and throw them away otherwise. You can get some good quality ones there and they will just give them to you for free if they have them. Good luck.
If you go to Home Depot, Mondays or Fridays would probably be best they use to give them to you.
You ca go to stores like Walmart, Target, Jewel, etc and ask for boxes....They will give you tons of boxes for free.
Sometimes if you ask loca; grocery stores they will give you some for free.
I asked at a CVS pharmacy to let me take some boxes from the ones they discard. They let me go in the back and choose the ones I thought would work. Suggestion, don't get too big boxes otherwise you will tend to fill them up completely and then it's too dificult to carry them in an out of the house. Try several stores, specially supermarkets, (don't choose boxes that contained fresh food, they might attract bugs) they don't mind, you are actually saving them the time since they have to get rid of them anyway. Or if you want to spend money, go to any storage company, they sell you packages of them.
You can get boxes from Jewel or Dominick's, ask for heavy duty one (the one that would hold bottles).
I get boxes from my local wine store. The boxes are strong enough for anything. Large or small. They even gave me a free bottle, for saving them the work. Why not have fun at it.
