Ok gals, need a marriage counselor recommendation. Looking for Naperville/Aurora/Batavia area. I would prefer non-religious counselor. I really need to know the pros of your counselor. Are they funny,do they speak to you straight, do they use humor, do they relate well to you and your husband? Also wondering how long you've been going. I have some friends that go, to just keep things on track, and some friends that go when they are really in trouble.
Dr. Janet Patton at Susan Myket & Associates in Naperville (near Rt. 59 & Interstate 88) is wonderful. She does not mention religion at all, has a sense of humor, very down to earth and realistic. Depending on where you are at to start, she may make a schedule and then taper the visits as things improve. If you can afford it, going to keep things on track is great! Good Luck!

I don't know of any in your area personally (sorry!) but I do have a book I can recommend that I found helpful for myself - "A Grown Up Marriage" by Judith Viorst. You can find it on Amazon.com, along with several positive reviews.
My wife and I went to a couple of marriage counselors many many years ago. What I found then is that some marriage counselors are marriage counselors and some claim to be marriage counselors, but are really divorce counselors. Don't be afraid to leave one and go to another if they aren't helping mend the marriage.
