Looking for Recommendations on Winter Toddler Shoes, And/or Nonslip Wool Socks?

Hello- my daughter has just recently started walking, and I am looking for ideas on which shoes and socks to get to keep her feet warm on our hardwood floors this winter. Has anyone found good mocassins, wool socks with non-slip soles, or thinly lined suede/leather shoe that they like? I hope to find something that is warm, natural fiber, and not not overly padded.

What can I do next?

I had a problem with my older daughter always slipping on the wooden floors - even up to about the age of 6, she couldn't quite grasp how to walk without slipping. So, after she outgrew all the socks with the built-in "grippy" stuff on the bottom, someone suggested to me that I paint the puffy paint on the bottom of her socks - it worked like a charm! I found it best to do wiggly stripes rather than dots of paint - the dots were too bumpy on her feet. Try to flatten out the paint as much as possible when you put it on - but this way you could choose whichever socks YOU like, and make them non-skid!

I like Robeez too, but I like the LL Bean mocs. even more. My son has a high instep (read fat feet) and they are roomier. Good luck!

I see everyone says robeez. Personally, I am not crazy about them, but it is only because they are just not a look I would choose. I really love Treadders or Padders. They have a website treadders.com. They are a slipper that has a leather sole and they range in price from 12.95-16.95. They come in every color and they stay on their feet. If you like the look of the Robeez then you should go with those, but if you don't, try the Treadders.

I would say Robeez are what you're looking for, although now there are a lot of competitor's that are equally as good shoe/company. Depending on how chilly you think your floors might get, Robeez does sell a "booty" They are lined, but stay on little feet well.

I use socks with a pair of robeez so my son doesn't slip in the house. They are great for outdoors as long as there is no snow or rain. They are great. My son is 18 months and just got a new pair because we all have wood floors and he slips with just socks. They sell knock off robeez at toysrus, target, and other stores that work just as well.

Robeez are great for kids learning to walk, indoors or out (except in snow and rain...). They also make a boot in the winter that covers the ankles and is very cute. Also, the "swedish mocasins" look like socks with leather bottoms-- they stay on great. $18 at Hanna Anderson, but I'm sure you could find them cheaper.

I see that everyone recommended Robeez, but if your child has fat feet or ankles like mine does, those will be too tight and leave indent marks on the skin. We LOVED Pediped brand shoes for fit and comfort. Not the warmest though, so I paired them up with Smart Wool socks all winter.

Both my son and I are allergic to wool - but we both tolerate Smart Wool socks - warm and soft. I would then put soft leather shoes on him to keep him from slipping. I liked the Target brand as much as the expensive boutique brands (although the designs are limited. not a big deal for us).

What I found helped him walk even more than bare feet (and this was recommended by pediatric orthopedic specialist who saw him for a consult) - Payless SMART FIT (MUST be Smart Fit) sneakers - for about $10-$17! They have wide toe box, come in wide sizes, and offer proper arch support. I kept him im the soft leather shoes around the house to keep him warm and he could nap in them and used the sneakers when we went outside.

Robeez are cute, leather and non slip. They keep socks on your kid's feet and the bottoms are very thin and flexible so they are good for learning to walk. Target sells an almost identical product for less money. You can also often find them second hand because kids outgrow then so quickly.
Good luck!

I have used socks and a "robeez" style shoe (knock off brands avaiable at Target and on Ebay, so many cute styles!). The shoes don't slip and are not easy to pull off. All 3 of mine have worn them and teh youngst continues to. Good luck!

We used both the Robeez brand and the Shoo Shoos brand. Here is a link to their website. http://www.shooshoosusa.com/ Check out the clearance section for shoes from $19.95 down to $10.95. There are some really cute ones.

I love Robeez...they have soles that work on hardwood or carpeting and they are soft and comfy for the babies. I also found that babies r us sells their brand of Robees for half the price and they are almost cuter. Good luck!

My daughter's first pair of shoes were Robeeze, which worked great on our hard wood floors. They run $30-$40 so I also bought the Target brand, too. For socks, I just bought Target/Walmart non-skids, which had rubber stars on the bottom that kept her from slipping. Although, I must warn you, she will fall anyway! i also loved Babylegs leg warmers for the home, so when she did fall, she little knees were protected! They are on-line or at Target stores. Have fun!

I used those Bobux or Robeez leather shoes. These take a little work to slip on (I never used socks) and are very hard for them to take off. I found that these were enough to keep my kids' toes warm and gave them a little skid-proofing on our wood and tile floors. These can also be worn outside in warmer weather, but I find that once they start walking, they need more support outside.

Hi C.! I used to put the Robeez on my kids. They have the pull on mocassin style or they also make a bootie I think for the colder weather. They are a little pricey, but well worth the price. I kept the same pair and used them for both my girls. They are very durable and very comfy (as my youngest hated anything on her feet and these were the only things she would keep on) Hope you find something! K.:)

My son wore Robeez at that age, we also have hardwood floors and they were wonderful. You can search online to find where to buy them, I think target might have them...and I know that Target sells a "knock off" that is great too! Good luck!

i used the robeez leather slip on shoes as slippers for during the day..... my daughter is now 2 and will still be using a pair as slippers around the house this winter too

at night she wore the carters zip up fleece PJ's w/ the feet and they have grippers on the bottom.

my house is all hardwood and tile w/ area rugs.... so the floors are cold in the winter and can be slippery.

I would also go with Robeez! They are comfortable and stretchy and will go the distance. My 15 month old wore them all last winter and spring when she was under a year. They are basically for indoors, and they have a suede bottom. I found some online for a little cheaper than the price in the stores - just google robeez and see what comes up (I can't remember the actual site). I have also used the Target ones and they were great too!

Robeez (at roughly $30) or the virtually identical Target knock-offs (at $12) are great. Basically leather slippers. Both my kids wore them when they were just learning to walk.
