Good Slipper for Newly Walking Toddler?

I'm looking for a slipper for my 14 month old that has really good traction for our hardwood floors. She takes her socks off all the time and I don't want her to have to wear her walking shoes all day around the house. Too cold to go barefoot!!! any suggestions?

What can I do next?

My parents just bought GREAT slippers from Carter's for my twins. My sons are little fire trucks and my daughters are little kittens. We too have hardwood floors and these work perfectly. They are not all rubber so they don't "stick" but they have some to stop them from slipping all over the place. hey are also easy to get on and they stay on. They got them at a Carte's outlet center. Hope this helps.

I love robeez boots for the winter time. My son wears them all the time they are technically shoes that can be worn outside but they just have a leather sole like a slipper. My son wears them as slippers all around the house and they are really cozy.

Robeez! Babies-R-Us does make Robeez knock-offs which are quite good and much less expensive. I don't live near a Babies R Us, so Robeez were worth every penny to me

We got these animal slippers with ankle cuffs from LL Bean for about $16. They're a little tough to put on if your daughter is very chubby, but they do stay on, are warm, and have really good traction on wood floors. If you pick her favorite animal she'll keep them on too. So you know, they run big.

For inside the house I use NOWA LI slippers. They have a nice snug strap across the top and the cannot get them off. I do move to the Hanna Andersson ones when they get older and do not pull them off anymore....... LOVE THESE SLIPPERS!!!!!

Some small boutique type stores carry them but it is super easy to order. They are based in NJ and you will probably have them the next day or 2.

Get Robeeze (SP?) You can get them at Stride right. They slip on the foot & have wonderful traction where socks can be slippery. I have been using them with my son since he was 6 months old to help him with traction on my wood floors.

actually, podiatrists suggest children be barefoot or the equivalent as often as possible, so unless she is walking on sharp things outside where she needs protection, the best option is soft soled shoes. the old days of wearing harder soled walking shoes like stride rites are now said not to be good for the feet(hence stride rite now has soft soled shoes).

robeez are the best. they are as close to barefeet as you will get. a little pricey though. target sells lookalikes. other similar brands are isabooties, lil jo, shooshoos. if you google soft soled shoes, you should get a bunch of brands. they dont come off easily and keep the socks on.

also, they can be worn outside as well. i wouldnt have my daughter go to the park in them, but considering at that age, your daughter most likely is only walking indoors, these types will be the best choice for her feet. also, an outdoor option is a slightly harder bottom like pedipeds, however they are still completely flexible and soft.

look for online deals, or coupon codes!!! once you try them, you will not know how you did without them:)

I really liked a pair of socks with the Robeez-type leather shoes. We got ours at Target - they're great for just being around the house. No AMAZING traction, but they're not really slippery, either. Added bonus - she couldn't get her socks off!

My SIL bought our twins Robeez since they don't come off. They are four months and they work great. She recommended them because they are all her sister used for her children now 5 and 3 years old. Hope this helps.

I have 14 month twin boys and have the same problem. I went through many slippers with fail. I then found the fake Robeez at Target - they are great!!! They stay on and the boys walk all over with them.

Hi D.,
I have never heard of these Robeez slippers that everyone is raving about. I had bought my son slippers that just have those little dots on the bottom that are supposed to prevent him from slipping - but those little dots DON'T WORK!! He has fallen so many times!! I was getting frustrated because every pair of slippers I found had those same stupid dots that don't do anything! I finally found a pair of slippers at Payless (not with the slippers, they were in the toddler shoe section). They are warm and fleecey, but the have a full rubber bottom - Yea! He has only fallen once in them and that was only because he had spilled his water on the floor. Good luck - my son went straight from walking to running!

Tip Toe Joeys would be great on your floors. They're very soft leather, similar to the Robeez, but have a soft rubber pad on the ball and heal of the foot. I've seen them at Babystyle but I'm sure you could find them online. We don't have them yet but my friends love them.

If she takes off socks she will find a way to take of slippers. Stick with tights under her pants until she learns to love her new slippers enough to keep them on! :)

the Swedish moccasins they sell on hannaandersson.com are great because they are warm socks with a leather bottom that is stitched on. Hanna Andersson has stores too but I'm not sure where they are. Online they have lots of different colors...

My kids both love the barefoot thing. They don't care if it is cold. But I did get some nice grippy socks from walmart, Target & the Children's place. I also had slipper-ish ones for my daughter who refused to wear shoes, even outside. They were from One Step Ahead catalog.

Good luck
