For maybe the last four months, the Monday before I'm scheduled to "start" I get a massive migraine!!! I've never had them before! Last month I got what they call, tunnel vision (black periphrial vision). Scary stuff. Anyone on Loestrin out there and heard of this, has this occur? This pill is strange b/c you don't actually have a cycle...that concerned me...now these crazy migraines...any thoughts. Thank you!

What can I do next?

I'm on Loestrin and also get headaches a few days before I finish the pack. Not as severe as yours, and they are new since I started this brand of pill. BUT ... I have fibroids and endometriosis, and THAT pain is gone with this pill, so the trade-off is worth it, to me. I also love having no cycle. Other pills would probably alleviate the headaches (I haven't had them while on other pills.), but I like the idea of taking a low dose. For me, life is all about choices and trade-offs. If you're having headaches as bad as you describe, Loestrin might not be the pill for you. Maybe just another brand? It's worth talking to your doctor about.

I've never taken birth control pills but my thought is to get off of them. Call your pharmacist and see what the symptoms, of this particular pill, are. That does sound very scary and very unnatural to not have a period at all.

Low dose birth control and long term use frequently stop your period that is normal if you are not pregnant. If you want to have a period you will need to take a higher dose pill
You are have Menstrual migraines from the estrogen withdrawal during the sugar pills when your period comes. Talk to your doctor about estrogen free birth control or a different pill

Sounds like menstrual migraines to a T. I had them, but I wasn't on birth control. I would suggest going to see a neurologist (I went to Dr. Stuart Black ###-###-####) to get put on a medicine regimen. I also finally went to an acupuncturist (Lin Zhou ###-###-####) and they went away. I don't know if you have any kids, but mine went away during my first pregnancy, and they haven't come back since! It's actually a drop in progesterone before the onset of your period. A different birth control that doesn't allow this drop in progesterone (no sugar pill) may actually help with this, too. I just couldn't take birth controls--made me too cranky and sick!
