Yea! We're all working today ... hope my students remember to show up! Every semester I'll get one on two "You're kidding!"'s. Sorry, colleges/university and federal holidays don't mix.
As I am out the door to work and hubby and the kids are fast asleep I wonder, who else has to work today?

It's a nonsense holiday IMO. Maybe I'd feel differently if my husband was off, but he's not. So instead, the kids are home driving me up the wall!
I'm on deck for parenting, keeping the house picked up, making meals and keeping things together (which is my usual job, and so a holiday will not apply to this, ha.).
Husband also has to work. The medical industry doesn't really ever take a day off and they need their computers to work.
When I worked this was considerd a "floater" holiday. Bascially we came into work and used our "President's Day" holiday day when we wanted during the year. We had 4, plus 2 weeks vacation (or more depending on senority) so you could take a 2 week vacation and have 4 days to recoup after if you wanted. But they did have to be approved like any other day off. For those of us with kids we were sometimes able to half these floaters and use them for medical appts and such.
My husband's on his way to work right now (dr office).
My mom is off today, as she works at a stock brokerage firm.
My sister is working today--she runs a few daycares that only close for Thanksgiving, New Years, and Christmas.
My older brother is an airport cop, and he's just finishing up his overnight shift (he keeps vampire hours)
My dad is a county property tax accountant, so he's off
My kids apparently don't know what a "day off" is, so they had me up at 6. Slight grrr to them, as I am sick and pregnant and had to take some Zyrtec last night and my body is SOOO not ready to be up!
Kids are in school. I am in school. (I teach). Prayed for snow, but no such luck. I know that if I were a SAHM I would go crazy, but days like today I would love nothing better than to take my two 4yr olds to the park, have a chilly picnic and giggle ourselves silly, then go home, take baths, hang out in pjs, paint toe nails and such.
I have to work today, but my son is off. His daycare is taking them to a movie, so he's excited. I woke up with a cold, so I really wish I was staying home.
It is "family day" in Canada. Even the Canadians have off today:)
We don't get Columbus Day off anymore (they traded it for Martin Luther King Day) but we do get Presidents Day off.
Hubby is working today. I am a SAHM. The kids have the day off from school.
They will go to ZUMBA and Costco with me today...then we will "celebrate" our Presidents with a gynormous slice of Costco pizza.
Very surprised to find that my husband is (mostly) off today. He forgot and scheduled 1 appointment this morning but when he returns, we'll celebrate the unexpected day off buy going to Dinosaur Valley (beautiful weather).
I am working a half day today, just to get some extra hours. I had to take time off on Friday for my daughter's doctor appt. I was supposed to be off today, but this is a trade off for me. Girls are off school, but hubby has to work also.
I have to work today. My kids are off from school. My husband's work had the day off but his dept is super busy so they are going to work today and will get to use a holiday day sometime in the spring or summer.
Its that wierd holiday....the combination President birthdays combined into one. When I was a kid I remember getting both days off, Lincoln's b-day and Washington's, now it's just the one. So....some companies observe it and some don't. I guess they figure if you're gonna combine it and give us just 1 day, then they don't bother to observe it.
We are technically working here and there, HOWEVER, we run our company from home. Hubby is not making outside sales calls today unless he is needed somewhere.
I am catching up on my accounting and filing because I expect it to be a slower day than usual but hubby has already spoken with a couple of customers and they have placed orders so we are in process of lining up trucking companies to pick up material from suppliers and our warehouse so deliveries can be made by the end of the week.
Overall, it is pretty much like any day around here... we just keep the phones handy so we can service orders, work around the house, go out to lunch, etc.
There is no school here either but the teachers are in school.
My kids are off and are driving me nuts- I'm home too since that is my job. I've come to really dislike long weekends!
Cheryl, I'll be in Vegas this weekend too, leaving Thursday for a wedding on Friday!
I'm at work. My daughter is home with my Mother. I really envy them.
Husband is working. I always work (as a SAHM).
My husband only gets Christmas off. It sucks.
Kids are off school today AND the rest of the week! It's "mid winter break" up here.

My husband is working, I am not.
Everyone is off in our house. Not exactly sure how my husband's company works it out but they get most of the military recognized days off. If the military gets the day off 9/10 times so does my husband. It's quite nice to have a long weekend. :)
ETA: I have the day off - it would be considered a paid holiday for me. But I am working because I leave on Friday for Las Vegas! So I don't have to take vacation!! I have a great boss!

I do. But I work from home...my commute sucks...I have to walk down the stairs! (LOL!)
with my job? It really doesn't end Monday through Friday...
Hope you have a wonderful day!!
In Manitoba, Canada it is called Louis Riel Day and we have the day off. We all slept in today!
My son has school today. (Catholic school) They don't seem to get alot of the public school holidays off?
