Husband Is a Stay-at-home Dad

I am wondering if there are any other moms on here whose husband is a Stay-at-Home dad. Or is there a online group I can join for women whose husbands stay home with their children?

I work full-time and my husband is home caring for our daughter. He works part-time nights and weekends.

I would like to 'talk' to other women in this position. Discuss the stresses, people's attitudes, etc.

What can I do next?

Hi Marla,
I don't know of any but let me know if you find one! We do the same only he works evenings so we don't see each other often! Just have to make the most of the time we do have.
Good luck and again let me know what you find!

Let me know if you find anything out! Perhaps we should start a group!
Which there was something on-line, because it's tough on both ends and it is a fairly new cultural shift with dad staying home.

I am proud our kids aren't in daycare but frustrated too, that I can't be the one to stay home.

My husband was a SAHD to our 20 month old son until he was 9 months old and will be a SAHD again when we have our next child OR he decides he can handle a toddler while going to school full-time.

Let me know if you need any advice or you find a group out there.

It is nice that your husband can work part/time and weekends to be able to spend time with your daughter! What a trooper to have a job and raise your daughter. He is going to look back on this time with fond memories of his time with her. :-)

My husband lost his job a few weeks before our son was born and is currently not working. Our son is now 4 months old. Dad is doing great, but sometimes I worry that he's not getting out enough. It's a lot easier for moms to network.

I think a lot of people feel that it's a little odd for him to be staying at home (especially his older family members who grew up with the attitude of men's work vs. woman's work), but in general it's been OK so far. It's not as "normal" for a man to take care of his child full time. I've struggled a bit myself, wishing that I could be home instead, but that's not possible. My husband feels a little out of place with some of his guy friends, too.

We just try to remember that this is the best situation for our family right now and I'm so glad that he's able to spend so much time with our son.

Hi Marla,

My husband stays home PT with our 3 1/2 month old son. He is home with him 3 days/week while I work. He might become a FT SAHD in a month as I might be getting a FT job. Feel free to send me a private message.

I'm not aware of any online groups, but then I haven't looked. There *is* a SAHD group (for the dads) here in the Twin Cities. I found it once on a google search. It actually looked like it was a big group and thriving, if you husband is looking for support, too.

I work part time and my hubby watches the kids 4 days a week. He works full time and I work nights and weekends.I like the convenience of not having to take my kids anywhere, and its free. I get a little stressed because it seems like I have to take a day to recover my home. He really tries but he just is not the mama.
