Horrible Diaper Rash. Please Help!!!

I gave my neice some Arbonne baby products - her son had terrible diaper rash. She washed him with the baby wash and then used the diaper rash cream that I sent her and she told me it cleared up.

If diaper creams don't work, try lotramin AF. Nothing worked for my daughter. My dr recommended lotramin. It turns out she had a fungal infection which is fairly common. It worked like a charm!

Another good one is Aquaphor, which is like a liquid bandaid. You might try alternating between one of the creams described above and the Aquaphor. Especially use Aquaphor at night; it makes a layer between the baby and the diaper for those long spells between changes. also try the Lotrimin as it could be a yeast infection. Is it possible the baby is constipated, or that she has diarrhea? Either could make the rash much worse. Do cut out the acids and fruits until the rash is better. Consider going to the dr if it does not improve. My daughter had something like that for almost a year before we finally figured out that she was constipated. the Aquaphor was a miracle worker.

One time, my son had the bleeding sores type of diaper rash and I tried EVERTHING. I went to the doctor, and he said "I'm going to tell you the secret of miracle cream". Take a dab of triple anti-biotic (like neo-sporin), a dab of lotrimin (yeast infection cream) and a dab of cortisone (allergy/itch cream) in your hand, mix, and apply after every diaper change until it is better. And just buy the store brands, they work just as well! My little boy's bleeding butt was better within 2 diaper changes. by 4 diaper changes, all that was left was a few spots where he had been bleeding.

Prescription Nystatin and Diaperene Cornstarch worked well for my kids.

An old folks remedy that also worked was browning flour on the stove. Then, put it on the child's bottom and let her bottom air out by not putting a diaper on. It works.

Your child could also have a diaper rash that is caused by yeast. Ask your pediatrician for a diaper rash paste that you mix with mineral oil this has always worked for me. Also, try using aquifer, and if you possibly can let you child go bare bottomed if you can (I know it sounds crazy but, letting the air get to it will help it and help your child feel better. I always would cover crib mattress with changing cloths and towels and let child sleep without diaper. This also helps with the possibilty of a mess occuring. I was very skeptical about it when I first heard about it too. I thought the lady who told me had lost her mind. Even 20o minutes of being diaperless will help.

My oldest was allergic to just about every actual diaper rash cream that we put on her bum, but my Lansinoh breast cream worked great! No more rash in about 2 hours. Go figure.

We use Bert's Bees Diaper Cream. My son is very sentitive and that is the only thing that works for us, even after trying Boudreaux's and others that are highly recommended. It is also possible your daughter could have a yeast infection. Both my kids have had them. Try a little Lotrimin AF under your regular diaper cream and se eif it improves. If it is yeast, you should notice an improvement after a day. When it gets bad for my kids, I get a small tub and mix equal parts Lotrimin AF, Hydrocortisone, and Vaseline along with a splash of Maalox. It gets messy making the paste, but it works wonders. Also, cut out juice the acidity can really irritate the rash.

The only thing I can add to all these wonderful responses (esp. the one mixing the three meds) is that it might be the diapers. buy a better brand or try cloth. some diapers are really full of chemicals.

To speed healing, use the cool setting on a blow dryer to dry her butt prior to applying the barrier creams. You want to seal moisture out, not in. Change diapers and apply at least twice as frequently as usual. Good luck!

I would almost promise you that it is actually a yeast infection. Little ones dont get them like we mammas do, so you might not recognize it as a yeast infection. I would try some Lotrimin AF like the previous poster said...we have used it often on our little girls. And then aquaphor is a true life saver in our house! Also, try to let her be naked as much as you can, make sure she is good and dry..change her often, and reapply ointment frequently. Best of luck, it is hard to get them to cooperate when it hurts to change them, so I hope it clears up soon!! ~A.~

Take her to your Ped to verify that it is not yeast or allergy. Many kids get terrible diaper rashes after eating something they are allergic to. My son used to get really bad ones after taking meds or having vaccinations.

If not, we used to put Dr. Smith's on our son and cover it with Aquaphor. It created a barrier so that the cream could work without irritation.

It actually does sound like a diaper rash or yeast infection. My daughter was really sensitive to most diaper rash cream until a great grandmother type sitter told us to try a diaper cream called Dr. Smiths, its in a white jar with a either a baby or a doctor on it. Its about 6 dollars for a small container, but i tell you it was the only thing that really worked for our daughter. You can find it at Wal-Mart and Walgreens, those are the stores I know for sure. Another that is good is baby powder with corn starch.
