Help for My Sister's Hangover, Lol.

My sister and I talked on the phone until 3am last night, and she decided to drink some of her hubby's whiskey during. She's not a drinker at all, and has a bad hangover now. She's nauseated and can't keep anything down, including medicine for her headache. The only thing that I knew to tell her was water, lots of water and maybe some ginger ale. I don't get hangovers like this, so I don't know what to do to help her. Poor thing, lol. She's such a sweet sister and I want to try to help since we have a bbq to be at today. I don't want her to be in pain.
I told her not to do that anymore, lol.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies! I'll take her a gatorade and some magnesium since I have those here. :)

Hyland's Homeopathic Bioplasma. Balances out the electrolytes faster than Gatorade without dyes and sugar.

Nothing to be done until she stops vomiting, except for licking salt.

Then an alternating hot and cold shower, frenchfries & a coke. Bloody mary MIX will also help a great deal. Honestly, so will a little hair of the dog. But it's not a good idea to get into that particular habit.

Of course, if she's lucky enough to have access to IV fluids, that will fix her in 5 minutes. But most people aren't married to someone who can fix them, and unless it's a medical emergency, med staff won't "fix" hangovers on educational principle.

Next time she needs to be eating & drinking while drinking. When we used to drink on the beach in FL in the military we'd alternate: 1 alcohol drink and 1 drink of powerade. Literally sip for sip. And then make sure to eat a burger before going to bed. OTW we wouldn't be able to run the next day. Mondays you could actually SMELL the platoons coming during morning runs by the sheer amount of alcohol that was being sweated off.

Tell her to just stick it out for a couple more hours, as soon as the nausea goes away tell her to get super greasy food and take aspirin or Aleve (these work better than Tylenol for a hangover). The greasy food and aspirin sometimes overrides the torture. She can also supplement with Gatorade (Pedialyte, like the lady below said) and coke. Hopefully that helps. Unfortunately, a lot of times you just have to ride the pain wave until it is over. Bummer for her.

Pedilyte. I'm not a drinker but I've got a lot of friends living the rock'n'roll lifestyle and Pedilyte seems to work the best.

Water and/or anything with electrolytes. Every hr or so, try to down some crackers OR some chicken soup (from the can). That salty flavor tasted good when I was hung over. Once she can hold food down, maybe try some greasy fast food.....great hangover food!

I have heard Gatorade can help. But also, lots and lots of water, as much as she can keep down. My husband swears by a shot of the dog that bit her...LOL! But it works! (Yes, even before noon)

Pedialyte would work good! Alcohol severely dehydrates you. She needs to replenish her electrolytes. Which means lots of water, and magnesium. Gatorade has alot of sugar in it, and what I have recommended for people is called Endura. It is a powdered sports drink, with not so much sugar. You can get it from a health care professional. It's made by Metagenics. But for over the counter, pedialyte would probably work!
