I am also hippy and my favorite jeans are Gap Long & Lean or Perfect Boot Cut. They are around $60-$70, but a lot of the time they will have sales or coupons that you can use to bring the price down.
Hi moms, it's been quite a few years since I have bought myself new jeans, pre-kids. I cycle through the same pairs over and over since my weight has fluctuated being pregnant, then breastfeeding, then again pregnant and breastfeeding. I tried some on at a store yesterday and the sizes are different and they all seem alot tighter, like a spandex material. I am a bit hippy and my thighs are on the heavier side but my waist is small. I am looking for a pair of regular jeans that fits my hips, thighs, waist and doesn't have funny looking pockets that stick out in the front. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people's butts are hanging out,esp my own. Oh, and I use a belt but don't like when all that extra material scrunches up in the back, it just looks icky. I am just wondering where you ladies find good jeans, a friend has suggested one place, but said they are pretty expensive?

I love 7 for All Mankind jeans, but they're horrible on the bank account ($150-200). I hate the price-tag, but they feel and fit amazing. Plus, my hubby always stares at my butt when I have them on. lol Old Navy and Gap, are both good options for variety. Outlet malls are a great place to look too. I always find great deals at the Gap, and Levi outlet stores here (Florida).
I just bought a couple pairs of GAP Long & Lean jeans, they are awesome. Higher waist so my crack isn't hanging out and a little bit of stretch to be a little forgiving. I think they were only around $50-$60.
With jeans, you get what you pay for. 100%
I love my Seven for All Mankind Dojos. I have several pair. They last for YEARS and fit beautifully. The difference with designer denim is the quality. The demin will conform to your body after a wear or two (so they become shaped like YOU, not like the store), and the stretch goes back after you take them off (they don't lose their shape 3 hrs after you put them on and sit down).
A *good* pair of jeans will cost you between $100-200, depending on the style and fit you find.
It's worth it to make that investment. It will last you years.
(And you can always join one of the sites that offer those at discounts all the time, you just need to go try on styles so you know what you need, then wait for the sale online. Ex: www.ruelala.com will often have Seven's on sale for $99/pair in all styles. You just have to watch for them.

Find a great tailor! Buy jeans that fit your butt and hips, then have the waist tailored to fit you. Usually it's an inexpensive alteration and you can do it on $20 jeans (if you like them).
Try Old Navy. They've got different fits and styles. If you choose a jean with a more relaxed fit through the thighs, you might be able to find some that work for your shape.
I like my gap bootcut and a pair of ralph lauren ones I have. My best suggestion is as annoying as it is take a day and try on several brands and styles and see what fits you best. Have fun shopping.
I am a big fan of the ReRock jeans at express. They have different rises, but most are the lower side of thing.
My mother recently bough NYD (not your daughter's jeans) and LOVED them for the fact they didn't hang down, but still curved nicely.
I HATE jean shopping, but once you put in the effort and find a brand it is worth it.
OH - not to buy into the hype, but outside of Levi's sometimes the higher the price IS better - you get what you pay for:) so don't be afraid of price tag - go try em on JIC>
You'll find lots of sales right now. I, like you have always had hips, thighs, and butt, with a smaller waist.
I have found Lucky Brand to be the absolute best fit. Yes, they're expensive, when it's going into 'jeans weather' (fall). But at Buckle (or buckle.com), you'll find TONS of sales. If there's a store close to you that sells Lucky Brand, you'll likely find lots of sales.
I have yet to find another jean brand to fit my body type and sit above the crack of my arse like Lucky.
Good luck! I'd love to hear how your search goes! If you need to ask a question, don't hesitate to PM me! It took me YEARS to find the right fit.
I have the same problem, plus the added problem of very long legs because I am almost 6' tall. I wear a size 8, and because I am tall a lot f jeans are too short in the stride. My best friend and husband were with me one time and thought that I exaggerated about how hard it is to find a pair of jeans that fit. In most cases to get them so that they have enough room for the junk in the trunk, I could literally fit a soda can in the waist at the small of my back! I had on one really cute pair at Kohls and they were saying "see? That wasn't so bad, those are cute" .....until I did the "squat test" .......they were hysterical laughing and howling doubled over they thought that it was so funny! Seriously,.....I can't stand seeing all those hoochies with their thongs and butt cracks hanging out, I mean really, don't they ever look in the mirror? So disrespectful to other families, not exactly what I want my husband and 7 year old daughter looking at when we are out and about. Ok, so I digress! Actually, I have found Ralph Lauren pants and capris to fit every well, but I have never tried their jeans. I have one pair of SouthPole jeans that I found on the clearance rack at Beall's outlet, they are actually my favorite now, but most of my jeans are from Eddie Bauer. There are stores around where you can try them on, but once you are familiar with the line, the website always has great sales. Good luck!
I got a pair from DEB called Reign (bootcut). That is their new brand. They are very comfy(not heavy at all) and are the right length. I went back to get more and they didn't have any left in my size. I spent an hour trying on other pairs and they were either skinny jeans or too long. I settled for two pair thinking they could work but I don't like them and will be taking them back. I also hate when the butt or stomach hang out. Very unattractive. I have a pair I just found from Dressbarn called Newport. They fit over the muffin top and are very slimming. Extra comfy!
"Not Your Daughter's Jeans"
They have just enough spandex to fit without feeling like they pinch. They hold my butt up in the back, too. I paid about $100 for them.
You have to try a lot of different brands and then in those brands they have different cuts. There's no perfect one for everyone. I used to have a small waist and thicker thighs - but now that I'm in my 50's (GASP - how did that happen?) I need pants/jeans that address my waist being larger. Horrible!!!!
Go to a mall or an outlet center and try on jeans in a lot of differnet store with different cuts and see what fits you best. Good luck!
I just went jean shopping myself. I tried on Lee's since they've been advertising so much about no gap waistband and slimming look etc. OMG, I felt like I had tried on a pair of jeans from the 70's! The waist practically came up to my boobs! Once I stopped laughing I went back out and grabbed a few different styles of Levi's and found they fit me perfect! Love my Levis!
I like Eddie Bauer for grown up jeans. Also Lands End has a 'contoured waist' higher in the back than the front to avoid plummers butt!
:)
I'm shaped exactly the same- big booty, hips, and thighs; and small waist. The jean/pant thing will be a battle until the day we die, honey. Lol. I have to wear a belt with each and every pair of jeans/slacks that I own, because if they fit my butt and thighs, they're a bit too big in the waist. It's no biggie to me.
The last 3 pair of jeans that I've bought (within 2 months) were True Religion. I love them. Yes, they are one of the premium denim brands, and yes can be a bit expensive, but they're one of my vices :-) With the small percent of spandex or elastin (depending on the jean) in them, they fit like a dream. One way to cut down on the cost some is to: go to an outlet (one pair I got from the True Religion outlet in Orlando in February), shop online boutiques which are trusted to sell authentic jeans (I purchased a pair last year from couturecandy.com and they always have sales and coupon codes; they're also sold at zappos.com and 6pm.com), shop Nordstrom clearance sales and/or Nordstrom Rack, and/or resort to good 'ole eBay (but you have to be very careful and only shop those sellers who have proven to sell only authentic jeans- go to authenticforum.com for guidance).
OR, I don't know, maybe you are the type of person who doesn't mind wearing knock-offs (I know that it really doesn't matter to some people) *shrugs*, and in this case you can get them for a really inexpensive price- but I don't know about the quality of those. Just offering info :-)
Good luck!
Hi~
I also have a hard time finding good jeans that work for me...I'm taller, small waist, but hippy! I recently tried Levis. I bought a pair from Kohls and they are by far the best jeans I have ever had!! I usually wouldn't spend more than $20 on a pair, so these are a bit pricier at about $35/pair. But totally worth it! They are long enough for me and not super tight on my hips/thighs. Oh, and I always wear a belt, just because. My mom actually turned me on to them. She is also tall, but she seems to have a similar figure to yours--Taller, small waist, but bigger hips & thighs. They come in so many different styles too, that I'm sure you could find something that works for you specifically.
I've always had good luck with Levis, too. I have a small waist (comparatively!) and I think what you're wanting is a "mid-rise" style. Also, I have some dark wash denim Dockers (straight down from the hip) that fit well due to an inside elastic around the waist.
Really, you need kind of a "Day of Hell" to try on a million different pairs, sizes and styles! LOL
I find that Gap Long and Lean Jeans fit me the most comfortably, I find that they tend to be on sale a lot.
Good fitting jean are on the expensive side... I LOVE my pair of Big Star and my BKE jeans. Buy them so they fit pretty snug because they stretch to fit you and then they will fit you very well.
I am personally LOVING Gap Long & Leans these days...but they may not work for you with a small waist. Try GAP curvy bootcut and also Ann Taylor and Loft each make jeans just for Curvy girls.
Honestly you'll just have to try different brands until you find what fits you best. And good jeans that look nice and last are probably going to cost you a bit more. Jeans stretch out so easily...that's also why you buy them a little tighter, so when they stretch they fit the way you want them to and you don't get all that material that scrunches. To me, I wear my jeans soooo much that it is worth investing in them and they make me feel good when they fit right. You might like David Kahn's because they have a little higher waist. Or they have a brand out now called "Not Your Daughters Jeans" that also seem to be cut that way. My favorite right now are AG. I am not sure what stores are in your area to tell you where to find them.
I have a small waist, size 2 or less depending on the designer.
I get a lot of clothes altered. My jeans are Rock Revival and I love them. They are pricey though.... about $175.
I do wear low rise, skinny jeans. They have several styles
You may have to have them altered. I have to buy jeans to fit my legs but are always way too big in the waist. Having them alters helps because a belt sometimes just doesn't work.
Oddly I found a great pair of jeans at Wal Mart. They were even a dollar cheaper than the yoga pants I bought that day!
Ive been losing weight lately and my jeans are doing the sag down (DD, who is just starting to walk, keeps yanking them down to pull herself up, too!) I added an extra button (the usual type on jeans that you hammer on) and now they stay up. Ive found some really great (cheap!) jeans at walmart, and my favorite ever pair came from le chateau. (25$ on clearance) I hate belts, unless the pants already fit good and everything is smooth, the best thing, for me, was the added button, to make the waist a couple inches smaller.
