Games for Picnic

I'm hosting a picnic this weekend. There will be over 20 adults and 20 kids. The kids ages range from toddler to grade school. I'd like to have the kids play some games, but can't think of much off the top of my head. Any suggestions for old school games (e.g. Red Rover/Simon Says) that kids might enjoy?

What can I do next?

Set out a sprinkler (we just use the one for our lawn - it works great) and one of those blow up pools -- we just got one for $25 at Target.

Also bubbles and little squirt guns -- not the super soakers... those can get out of hand quick.

Bocci ball is always a family favorite for us, and the kids can play.

For the little ones, I think if you just have a few balls around, they'll entertain themselves pretty well.

Bags (cornhole, or whatever you may call it) are great for both adults and kids too.

For the smaller ones, you could also do face painting, or finger painting...something along that line. Or maybe some craft projects?

The old favorite sack race is always good as another Mom mentioned, and the egg and spoon race too. KIds love a water balloon toss too in pairs. Little kids love to play duck duck goose too. You can do another fun balloon game buy tieing a balloon onto about a 2 ft string, loop one end and make a slip knot. Have the people playing put their foot in the slip knot with the balloon attached to the other end. The object of the game is when the hose says go everyone runs around and tries to pop the other participants balloons without theirs getting popped. Last person to have balloon not popped wins. It is fun for adults older children and teens. Little kids often cry when their balloon is popped. Have lots of fun.

hula hoops - for regular play and for relay where each team has to pass the hoop from one end of the line to the other without letting go of their teammates' hands (so they have to duck under hoop, step through it, etc.)
water balloon toss
crazy dress up relay - put a basket of old clothes on each end and participants have to run to one side, put on a crazy shirt and run back to the other side
limbo!
freeze dancing - everyone dances while music is playing and have to freeze in place when you stop the music

Simon says for everyone.. Take turns letting different people be the caller (even young kids)

The freeze game.. The caller turns their back to everyone and says "go"..
Everyone tries to move forward. caller turns around and says freeze. Everyone must freeze in whatever position they are in.. If they move the are out.. the first to reach the caller wins.. and gets to be the caller again..

pair up a child with an adult or however you want. Stand across from eachother facing eachother. TOSS a water balloon(or egg) back and forth, taking steps backward after each toss. Last pair standing wins.

3-legged race

spin your head on a baseball bat and run race (makes for great videos and lots of laughs)

tortilla decorating contest - use mustard, ketchup, rasins, sprinkles, marshmallows ..... decorate the tortilla and set them on display to show of your artistic abilities.

horseshoes!

for the little kiddos - have an easter egg hunt, but instead of easter eggs, hide whatever your theme might be. Hide dinosaurs, hide silk flowers, hide 50 plastic spoons .... whatever.
