What do you do with all the clothes hangers you get from the dry cleaners?
I feel silly. I had no idea you could take them back to the cleaners. I thought about taking them to Goodwill, but I'll check with the cleaners first to see if they offer some kind of credit it I return them. Thanks everyone!

Just to add a comment here...Goodwill and other non profit organizations that you donate to, do not accept hangers. They have too many. So taking them back to the cleaners is the best option.
BTW, it wouldn't hurt to keep a couple of them in your closet. They do come in handy some times. You never know when you'll need one to help retrieve an item when it's out of reach (you undo it. bend it straight and you already have a hook on one end), or if you lock your keys in your car. I'm not sure if the hanger method works well on the newer models of cars (and I'm really showing my age here...LOL) but in older cars they do the trick. They are also useful when making some crafts...like a wreath with a built in hanger. Just a thought.

I think you will find that the BIG answer to this is bring them back to the cleaners as we all have said that!!!! I also had a friend who wanted them because she liked them.....Art teachers sometimes use them for sculpture projects in school. So there are a few other ideas.
we also bring them back to the cleaners for re-use
Bring them back to the dry cleaners! The one I used to go to in NJ would give you a 2cent credit for each one - here in Ohio, they do not, but it is still very environmentally responsible to bring them back so that they can reuse them - Go Green!!!!!
I bring them back to the dry cleaners. They all seem to cheerfully accept them back. :)
I've kept a few for use here and there but for the most part, I throw them away.
At the Hirschhorn Museum for Modern Art in DC is a sculputre made of hangers on display....
take them back to the cleaners as others suggested or use them in the laundry room to hang clothes after you iron clothes...you could also use them for garage sales or consignment sales - most places make you bring your own hangers to hang baby clothes, etc.
