Need Something to Make My Hangers Non-slip

My kids have plastic hangers for their clothes & jackets but they keep falling off b/c its too slippery. Anyone have any ideas on what i can do to these hangers to prevent slippage? I could go out & buy the slim velvet hangers but that would be $$.

I know I'm late with my response, but I was thinking about it, and I wondered if you sandpapered the tops of the plastic hangers maybe that would work.

Wrap rubber bands around the ends of the hangers. It is inexpensive, quick and will keep the clothes from sliding off the hangers. Hope this helps.

maybe you could get some felt and just cut small strips and hot glue them to the hangers? Felt squares are about .30 each and you probably wouldn't need too many if you cut small strips. Hope that helps!

Wrap some rubber bands around the ends of the hangers. This should do the trick.

This one is a trick I learned from my grandmother (before the fancy hangers were around)... She used to take the bigger rubberbands, cut them open and tie one end to the "hook" of the hanger. She then wound the bands to the end of the hanger and tied a knot. She also used to pin socks together before putting them in the washer to save time "matching and hunting" later. The woman was a genius!

You could try puffy paint...(you know the paint that you use to decorate t-shirts). One bottle is pretty inexpensive and you just draw a line from the hook down on each side which gives the clothes something to adhere to. Sometimes (depending on the size of the hangers I'll do a zig zag pattern from the hook down. Hope that helps! have a great day!

how about putting rubber bands on the ends of each hanger? even if you have to buy rubber bands, that would be pretty cheap and easy to do.

My dry cleaner has those non-slip covers on the hangers for shirts/blouses so I would take them off the wire hangers and put them on my on hangers. You may be able to cut them down to childrens hangers size and tack them on with glue.

Hi there,

What about putting rubber bands around the hangers? This is very inexpensive & will keep the jackets on the hangers. I have the same problem at my house too. Good luck!

It's just a thought because I haven't actually tried it, but how about TWO-SIDED SCOTCH TAPE placed in either pieces or strips along the length of the hangers? I'm guessing this would provide enough tackiness for the clothes not to slip off(?)

You could make your own by using felt. Felt is very cheap. It's only .25/square and can go a long way depending on how you cut it. Just cut strips of felt and sew or hot glue them to the hanger. You can also have them button the top button on the coat or zip the coats up after they are put on the hanger....Then you don't have to spend anything.

You could go to Michael's or a craft store and find some kind of nonslip stickers to stick onto the hangers. Just an idea, but I've found that Michael's is usually a place with inexpensive answers to problems like this. You could even take the non scratch felt pads for the bottoms of chairs and stick those to the hanger!
