So What Happened?

We got so lucky. The place was wonderful. Great weather, got to do everything in 30 min wait times.
Never had to use Fast Passes..... come 5pm on the 4th, we felt the crowd roll in and pretty much our
trip was over....so it was a great time. Thanks for all your input.

Craziness. Complete madhouse. LOL but then again, disneyland is always busy. Just on holidays, its 10x worse. It really depends on what you can tolerate.

I'm from that area, and I would never go on the fourth. But we could see their fireworks from our street which was fun. But I tend to avoid crowds. If you like that scene go ahead. But you'll end up standing in alot of lines, which seems like a waste of money. It depends on your taste really. I'd rather go to the beach personally. But that is crowded too on that day!

If you are ready for the crowds and the craziness, then I say go and have fun. But if you need a little more space, then go on the off season. HOwever the holidays are really celebrated up at DisneyLand, so all the stops will be out and all the fun will be on. The decision is really can you handle the masses- and are you staying overnight. Sometimes doing the park hopper passes and staying for 2-3 days at the hotel is the best way, so you don't feel pressured to squeeze it all in at once (if it's affordable for you).
Good luck! And don't be afraid! Everyone is there for the same good time. =)

I researched attendance patterns at Disney because we are planning a trip out there around the same time. Highest attendance rates are on July 3, 4th and 5th in the summer. We are going to try and go on Thursday the 1st to beat some of the crowds and then enjoy the 4th in a nearby city. Thanks for asking this question. I am going to follow and see what others say.

It is an absolute and utter zoo on the 4th!! (we were yearly passholders for several years)

Also, once an annual pass holder. If your plans are changeable, I would pick a different time. The fourth will be crazy. The only thing worse than long, long lines is long lines with hot weather.

we did the same thing another poster said.. went a few days befor the 4th and it wasn't too bad. yes there were lines but probably a lot better then the 4th. Also if you go to Disneyland.com you can create your own map of the park with rides and attractions you want to see. Just log in save them to your favorites and when your done you can generate your own map. When we went we were with all boys so I made a map and didn't put any girl rides or rides that the boys didn't meet the height requirement. It really helped move the park along quickly.
