Yep it works great and I love it. I use it on my 2.5yo and clip it to the back of her pants so she doesn't mess with it. If you get it on sale it's not that expensive or the refills.
Our son reacts terribly to mosquito bites, but I hate having to lather him up with chemicals. Has anyone tried the new clip-on repellant that Off is marketing? I think the theory sounds wonderful, but I'm wondering if it really keeps the skeeters away...

It honestly does! BUT it runs out fast! If you do buy it then stock up on the refill's. I just started getting the "deep woods" spray by Off and it works fine! But the clip on ones are great for kids!
Yes it works -- BUT it is very expensive to buy and the refills don't last all that long. It's okay for a hike or an evening BBQ, but Deep Woods Off or 25% Deet Repel in the can works just as well. Any spray with more than 25% Deet works well. I used to have a 100% deet rub on repellant and that was miraculous. I'm not sure they have it available any more...
YMMV

We have thermacell brand mosquito repellers. Look for them on Amazon. If you need something for an area these are the best. We have a large pool in a wooded area and we would be swarmed without these. The refills aren't that expensive and they work.
Like most everyone else I found that these were not worth the money!
And obviously nothing is "full proof", but I've had some success with Skin So Soft oil as well. But the only problem with that is you have oily hands, etc.
I just read in Health Magazine that if you mix 2 oz. of Vanilla Extract (small bottle) with 2 oz. of water, it acts as a natural bug repellant!! Go to the Dollar Tree and grab a spray bottle. I tried it last night in preparation for camping next week - it worked VERY well!! And you smell delicious. :o)
My hubby gets bit the second he steps outside it seems. He tried the clip-ons and said they work. I personally haven't tried them yet. Our son is 3 and we did let him try one. The problem with him was he kept taking it off and moving it to a new spot. I didn't want him 'playing with it' so we haven't used it for him since. Have you ever used the natural bug repellents that don't have deet and other chemicals? I have also read (but never tried) that a scented dryer sheet will repell bugs if you pin it to your hat/shirt/pants.
My DD is the same way. I tried the clip on thing and it did nothing for me. The bugs didn't stop coming and feasting on her. I use the Avon skin so soft bath and body oil. I rub in a thin layer of it and it keeps them away a lot better. Hope this helps :)
Hi K.,
You say you are worried about lathering him up with chemicals but these clip ons run off being in the air around the person, so instead of absorbing the chemicals through the skin and into the bloodsteam, it is going into the bloodstream via the respiratory system. I make my insect repellant up from three products that have a primary ingredient of high grade tea tree oil. It stays on all day and it works great, better than deet and it;s completely safe. Ifyou don't want to use the chemicals, research natural alternatives that are safe.
God Bless!

PS Avon Skin So Soft is incredibly toxic if anyone suggests it...
I didn't have any luck with the small one I purchased. One of my daycare moms purchased one at a hardware store that is actually based on a heat system. I don't understand it exactly. But it's pretty expensive initially and you use butane or something in it to fire it up and disperse the stuff. She says each one handles about a 10 foot radius.
They do work. My husband is one that gets eatin alive when we go camping. Between using the Partylite citronella candles (they smell good and work) and the clips on. My husband can now enjoy camping. We had one for the whole weekend over Memorial day and only used one of the refills. With being next to the lake and how wet western pa nobody came home with bites and for once in the 15 yrs ive been camping I didnt have to soak myself nor my children in bug spray. They are worth the price!!
I didn't find that they worked. Someone told me today that carrying around dryer sheets somehow repels them. Haven't tried it yet though.
i usually use Avon skin so soft but i'm def gonna try the vanilla and water one! thanks for sharing!
