Adjusting Crib Skirt When Lowering Platform

I have a custom-made crib skirt on my daughter's bed and we need to lower her mattress now as she's starting to pull up. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to adjust the crib skirt from the top under the mattress? The skirt has a detailed pattern along the bottom so I can't just tuck it under or loosely hem it. Thanks for your help!

I used safety pins. I made my daughter's bedskirt and when I changed the bed the skirt was too long. I would lower the crib that way you can figure the right length for the skirt. I pinned up the sides first then flattened the corners and pinned them. Hope this helps.

Hi J.:

While I haven't tried this myself, one of the boutiques in the city suggested to pin the skirt under the mattress. So, when the time comes, I will lower the mattress and pull up the skirt and hold it into place using straight pins under the mattress, I know this sounds tedious but apparently this is what they do with floor models at the store.

Hope this helps.

I have a king size bed skirt for our queen bed and all i did was take the middle part that is under the mattress and fold it over until it was even all the way around the bed, pinned it at the fold and then just hand stiched it in place. 4 years later and it still works.

J.,

The easiest way I can think of, so as to not mess with the detail on the bottom would be to make the adjustment from the center UNDER the mattress part of the skirt. If you pull it evenly and create a fold that you can either pin, or take a few stitches on. Its hidden by the mattress and the patterned part won't look any different.
