My mom shared a link with my recently for wax rocks. http://twigandtoadstool.blogspot.com/2012/07/wax-rocks.html
I've seen many posts here from moms looking for fresh activities, so I thought I'd share. Our former homeowner buried all of their landscaping river rocks-so we have a plethora to use.
Due to all of the rain and cold weather we've had so far this spring all of the kids soccer games this weekend were cancelled. I thought this would be a good way to lift their spirits a little.
Anybody else come across good activities lately?

What can I do next?

Love the link!

My 5 year old is a bit nervous about hide-and-seek (he doesn't like surprises or anticipation) but we have great fun playing hide-and-seek with something and then giving each other clues.

Right now, the favorite thing to hide is a large plastic shark. One person covers their eyes and counts, the other hides the shark. Then the clues are things like, "I sure hope he doesn't get too tired!" (in the bed); "I wonder if he is cold?" (in the refrigerator); "Good thing he can swim" (in the bathtub). It's been a lot of fun thinking of new places to hide him and a great way for my son to learn how to give and interpret clues. Bonus: I don't have to squeeze into a closet anymore!

Our latest thing is geocaching. Using my smart phone app, I can locate caches near wherever we stand and go from there. Lots of hiking around and it trains you to be much, much more observant of your surroundings.

That looks like a great activity--I'll have to try it with my older kids some day while the youngest is sleeping.

Yesterday was a beautiful day, so my 9yo son and I got out the sidewalk paint and painted a mural on the driveway. It was so much fun, and it took the whole afternoon! We turned on some music outside and painted for hours! :)
