Try banging them on the carpet on their sides to try to break the seal.

Otherwise, put ice in the inside one.

Dip the outside one in hot water, and then pull them apart IMMEDIATELY! The cold makes the inside one shrink and the heat makes the outside one expand. However, if you don't get them apart immediately they may be stuck even harder together.

Hot water on the outside one, ice water on the inside. The cold will contract, the heat will expand. I sometimes have to run hot water on the outer one awhile before they'll separate, so be persistent :)

Lay them on a flat surface and gently roll them back and forth. This is what we do at the pub when pint glasses get stuck. Works every time.

Soak in hot, soapy water. The heat will expand the air inside, and the soap will help glide them apart.
Or, you can try a little oil.

Put them in the freezer or take to Goodwill.

Amanda C's got it right. My husband ran restaurants for years and did the same.

I've had this happen more than once. I've used many methods, some didn't work as well as others. Brute force is always what I resort to LOL Running water on them and breaking the seal with something like a knife has been the most successful. But the ladies that suggested using cold water inside and hot water outside sounds so much better of an idea!
