Abercrombie and Baby!

My MIL took my 3 mos old today so I could volunteer at my son's school. When I came back home she told me she had taken the baby to abercrombie to look for some clothes for my teenage nieces. I don't know if I'm overreacating, but I am not happy. The perfume in that store is so strong as is the noise! She said she was "only in there for an hour" so I'm thinking it may have been an hour and a half. I'm worried that the music was too loud in there or that the perfume smell would have given my daughter a headache. Am I concerned over nothing? Or should I be worried?

Thanks,

Nickie

Yeah, I think you're freaking out.. do you totally avoid having to walk through the perfume department when you enter a department store? At least Abercrombie is the same scent throughout the store.

Way to over concerned. It is a store and I'm sure the noise didn't bother your baby. Had the baby been crying over the noise I'm sure they would have left.

I'm figuring that your baby is a lot like every other baby in that he/she will absolutely let you know if they're uncomfortable by crying. I also am assuming that your MIL wouldn't keep a crying baby in a store for an hour & a half. I'll be totally honest with you & say while I do understand where you're coming from at least a bit, the music & perfume haven't ever affected me or my children negatively, so it may just be that your youngest didn't mind it either.

Let me guess... first baby? **Added Ooops just realized baby is not actually your first. So now I guess I don't get it.

I used to freak out when my baby slept through. Thinking she has to be hungry, so I would wake her up.

Come to think I used to freak out about poop too. I swore I called my pediatrician (bless her heart) every day for a week. I had one of those babies who pooped once a weak. No fuss No constipation, just a naturally breast fed baby.

BTW nowhere is it written that noise is bad for the baby.

It's done now and apparently the baby is fine, so what's the problem? If the baby got a headache, I would assume she would cry. If no crying, assume all is well. As far as noise, the baby might have been interested in all the new sights, SMELLS, and sounds! Relax mom.

The baby is safe? and no visable harm to her? be thankful you got a break and call it good.

I'm with the others, this sounds like a huge worry about nothing.

You are beyond over-reacting! Relax, or you'll be insane by the time your daughter is one! She didn't take her to a smokey death metal concert. Babies are far heartier than we give them credit for -think about it- we used to be born in caves and barns and live in complete filth, yet the human race survived! I think an hour at Abercrombie and Fitch, no matter how tasteless an hour it may be, isn't anything to worry about.

um, no harm. none at all. Exposure to different environments, noises, scents, etc. is actually good for all of us!

Well...just walking by the place gives me a headache.
I wouldn't be happy about it, but your babe is probably fine.
I also wouldn't be too happy if my MIL was supporting that trashy establishment. :(

If the baby seems okay, then I'd let it go. Next time tell your MIL not to take your baby in there. It's not only perfumey and loud, it's dark and you cannot manuever a stroller in there. I am glad that I am not the only one who dislikes Abercrombie and Hollister for those reasons. How can anyone enjoy shopping in those stores? I just don't get it.
