My son is just now seven weeks and he had yellow scaly stuff on his eyebrows and red bumps on his cheeks and chin. For the bumps my pedi recommended neosporin cream, it worked great. I used it a couple times a day and always after his bath. The stuff on his forehead and eybrows was cradle cap. I got this gentle cradle cap remover at wal-mart in the baby aisle. It had winnie the pooh characters on it and is in a green bottle. I put a little of that on his forehead and eyebrows being super careful not to get any in his eyes. Then I used a super soft infant brush to gently pull off the scales and crustys. It worked great and he looked so beautiful with his nice soft skin. Plus the stuff in his eyebrows was flaking off into his eyes which I did not think was too comfortable. Good luck!

My son had that too at that age. It's normal! I asked the doctor about it and she said the same thing.

a few things to look into
1- if you're nursing, she may be allergic to something you're eating. Try taking out the stuff that are common allergins to little ones, Milk, eggs, fish, etc. to see if that helps clear it up.
2- it could be exyzema (spelling is terrible I know), if that is it, I believe there are simple ways to help heal it, but it might be something she deals with for life. I have a friend who uses petroleum jelly on her son's "splotches", and some that use Aquaphore. I would talk to your dr. and have them look at it. It's very common in baby's if that is what it is.

good luck

That's normal. Don't pick at it. It will eventually go away. If it gets scabby, there is some over the counter natural medicines at your local drug store. You can ask the pharmacist or call a pediatrician. It can take a few weeks to months to go away. I have a 9 month old and he still has a few bumps every now and then.

My son developed bad baby acne at that age. I was so embarrassed - but, it's so common. It just needed time for the hormones to run through his system and improve his complexion.

If you're really concerned, I'd always recommend asking the pediatrician - it could also be a sensitivity to a fabric, lotion, food (either component of formula or something in your breast milk - depending on which you're doing).

Good luck! Enjoy that little one.

It's normal. My younger daughter had a terrible case of baby acne. It was so bad that when we were out running errands, people would come over to our stroller to see the baby, and they'd pause and say, "Oh! It's a baby!" or some other such thing. I felt so terrible for her because she was such a sweet baby and she was just hideous! But don't worry, it only lasts for a few weeks and then you'll have a beautiful baby. My daughter is almost 5 now and is the cutest kid in her class. =)

Change your bath soap to a fragrance free one, put breastmilk on the rash, olive oil or pure cocoa butter - away from the eyes. Also, add an extra rinse cycle to your baby's laundry loads. AND - use olive oil on your hands instead of lotion to see if that is the culprit.

It's dry skin or possibly eczema , very common on newborns cheeks/face. Get a baby moisturiser like aveeno and apply it after bathing.

Hi, my son had the same thing. I started wipping his face after he would eat and I started using johnson baby bath soap just a little bit on a wash rag on his face when i would give him a bath, I bathed him every day it became his bedtime routine. it could be caused by a passifier.

My son has something similar to what you're describing, at first it looked like dry skin, peeling and rough, and turned red and splotchy. But after talking with his pediatrician she said it was actually seborrheic dermatitis (cradle cap), an oily skin condition that is normal and quite common. He also got it on his head, but it came up first on his face, especially around his eyebrows and cheeks. She suggested treating it with a plain 1% hydocortisone cream 3 or 4 times a day. It went away like magic! Talk it over with your pediatrician first though to make sure it isn't something else like an allergy.

It will go away. Very common in infants. Show it to her pediatrician at your next visit.

maybe too much kissing or your baby is allergic to baby lotions. My daughter had the same thing. I had to switch to Euricine lotion.

my son and I broke out with acne early after birth...never had a problem with it but here's the advise my mom gave me....and if I didn't try it for myself I would have never believed it!!...Get your childs first diaper of the day and rub it on the acne. Just use the diaper as a pad. Sounds bad but infant urine is not bad smelling.

I know it's hard to leave it alone, but the very best thing to do for baby acne is to leave it alone. It WILL go away on its own eventually, but it takes a little time, especially if you are breastfeeding, because of the hormones in your milk. It happens to nearly every baby and is usually nothing to be concerned about. Check with your pediatrician but unless they say to put something on it, don't.

Definitely check with your pediatrician before applying anything, just to be on the safe side. With an ok, you can try some of what people have listed below, or Aquaphor, which I've had success with on a variety of things for my daughter's skin.

Most babies go through this phase at that age. I think it starts as early as 3 weeks and can last up to three months. If you notice yellowish crust of flaky skin on his scalp, forehead and eyebrows, its cradle cap. You can treat the cradle cap by apply olive oil for 30 minutes, then scrub off with a towel during a bath, the next day, you will notice the acne getting a lot better too. Cradle cap is where your baby is growing new skin faster than she is able to shred her old skin so it builds up layers and traps oil and in turn also causes the acne. So I recall.

Just want to add another bit of encouragement. One of mine had it pretty bad too, but the doctor said to keep it clean, it will go away and it did. Take care. (And remember, people can be rude about silly things like this, just forgive them where they're at).
