A heartbeat is always picked up until closer to 10 weeks.
You need to talk to your doctor and be reevaluated.
I am 40 yrs old mother of 6 healthy boys..found out I was pregnant 2 weeks ago on 09/11/13 I woke to pink discharge ( I had had cramps for about 3 days on and off..just normal period cramps) went and laid down go up to tinkle at 9:30 am, red blood only wiping ..went to Dr. She took blood work sent me for ultrasound..no heart beat, bleeding is in upper vaginal area baby is where it should be..come back to clinic on Friday..they want another ultrasound in a week, but keep apparently.for Friday ...well this is next day THUR. More bleeding while wiping, tired, blood in toilet..no particals or pieces ..am I beginning to miscarried? ?
Went back to Dr on Friday..checked levels Dr said not sure but prepare for threatened miscarriage ..called on Saturday. My levels. Are up but not as much as she expected. So come back next Friday. Well I tired of the waiting game I took another test on Tuesday. It says I'm still positive, I've had bleeding all this time,I'm not sure how long levels stay in system IF YOU DO. Miscarriage ..spoon idk

Your Dr should be watching your HCG levels (blood test), to make sure your numbers climb in an upward fashion. I hope all works out ok for you. Take good care of yourself and best wishes,

It's too early. Most doctors don't even agree to do an ultrasound until 8-10 weeks because any earlier is far too early for it to tell the doctor or tech anything.
You would get more information from whether or not your hcg levels are rising in blood tests every other day. That's why your dr took blood tests, but she'll need to continue taking them to see if the levels are rising.
I would honestly refuse an ultrasound until you're closer to ten weeks. Earlier is worthless.
EDIT: A home pregnancy test is NOT an indicator of whether you're having a miscarriage, sweetie. It detects hcg at nearly any level, which is why you're not supposed to use them after you've had a miscarriage for several weeks ( I believe "they" say three months). You just really have got to go by the doctor's tests with the hcg numbers checking the levels as to whether or not your numbers are increasing or decreasing.
It could just be too early. I'm surprised the doc didn't check your hcg levels. That would be more conclusive. You could take another pregnancy test. If it's negative then your hcg is under 30 (you'll know you miscarried). Hope all goes well.
I'm so sorry you are going through this. You really need to contact your doctor. At 6 weeks, there may or may not be visible tissue during a miscarriage, but a heartbeat isn't always picked up early, especially if they are wrong on the dates. Good luck to you.
