yes a miscarriage involves cramps and usually some bleeding. Also you might want to be seen just in case it is an ectopic pregnancy which can be fatal.
I have taken three pregnancy tests two were positve and one was negative, in that order a week apart. I have starting cramping since Sat and I just started to bleed a little? What does a miscarriage feel like? and if i am having one will my last pregnancy test state I am negative??? Please advice???
Thanks for all your wonderful responses. I should be about 6 to 8 weeks pregnant. I went home and took some 2 tylenol 500 mg and went to sleep and got up a couple of times. I am still heavily cramping now and still bright red bleeding and some clotting but it is as if it was a full period now. I woke up my blood sugar is 364 and i have a fever, i havent eaten. I need to find a clinic. I just started a new employer and their insurance i had waived not expecting i needed it til next year becuase it was too expensive. So if you know of any clinics in the san bernardino area i can go to that would be wonderful, and i will arrange to go asap, my home doctor is with beaver but i need insurance for that. I am at work at the moment and not feeling great. but i cant stop a miscarriage i know that. If it going to happen it will happen, should i wait it out?

I was 9 weeks and went for my first app. and found out I had just miscarried recently but I had no idea. I think everyone is different.
When I misscarried I started to spot and then bleed. The only other symptom was that my breasts were no longer sore. But spotting doesn't always mean a miscarriage. Good luck.
A.,
It could possibly be ectopic which would require surgery. I've had two so I know about the bleeding and cramping. Consult a physician as soon as possible. Good luck to you and I wish you all the best. Take care.
I just recently miscarriage, so I know what kind of roller coaster you are riding. First, call your dr. and ask for an ultrasound to see if the little peanut is still in there. How far along are you? If it's just in the beginning, around where your period is, you could be having a chemical pregnancy. Meaning, you conceived, but the little egg did not attach itself to the uterine wall and is passing through. However, if you are further along, and you KNOW you are more than 4 weeks along, call your dr. With mine, I spotted on and off for a few days and then bleed like there was NO tomorrow when my baby finally came out. However, as for the pregnancy tests, even if you JUST miscarried, your HCG levels should still be high enough to register you are pregnant. Those slowly go down. I was taking pregnancy tests up until 2 weeks after my miscarriage before it finally went back to negative (if it never goes to negative and you did miscarriage, then something is still left inside of you and you'll have to do a D & C). I wanted to make sure everything was out and I was healthy before trying again.
I am so sorry what you are going through and I hope everything turns out okay.

You can have a false negative pregnancy test. Also...just because you have cramping and bleeding does not neccesarily mean a miscarriage. I have had both cramping and bleeding during pregnancy and carried my baby to full term. Please have you doctor check your hormone levels to see what is going on. Good luck to you!
sorry hope everything is ok. I had a miscarriage years ago i was 3 1/2months into my pregnancy when i had mine. it started off with spotting, bleeding then cramping. it is just like labor. try to get some rest put your feet up take it easy. try to find a health server right away even if your not having a miscarriage you will need to get prenatal care some where, there are free clinics and also ACCCHS is out there. if you have any concerns you call a doctor.
I have had two miscarraiges, one at 12 weeks that felt like full blown labor (now that I've had two kids I know) and one at 6 weeks that just felt like a really painful and heavy period for a couple of days. As far as the test goes, it could still read positive even if you are having or have had a miscarriage in the past three months, because your body holds onto the "pregnant" hormone (HCG) for a few months after birth or miscarraige. I would go see an OBGYN and ask to have a blood test to see if you even were/are pregnant and if you continue to bleed they will have you do another blood test in a week to see if you HCG levels are rising or falling. They will advise you from there. Good luck, and if you are miscarrying, I'm so sorry... don't expect to "get over it" too soon and go ahead and grieve your baby... but remember that God has His time for everything and in the end it's always the RIGHT time.
A.,
I have had miscarriages before and I do know one thing. The 3rd pregnancy test should not be negative. If you are in fact pregnant, and it sounds like you are, the pregnancy hormone does not just disappear. Perhaps the test was a bad batch or expired. Not sure what went wrong there. Have you gone to the doctor? That is where you should start! The doctor can do an HCG level blood test to see if the pregnancy is progressing as it should be. If HCG levels increase at the proper rate things should be fine. The cramping and bleeding do not sound right, however that in itself does not mean that you are miscarrying. Take it easy as best as you can, but get to the doctor so that they can test these things to put your mind at ease. Good Luck and always keep hope, because until someone tells you there is no baby there is one!!!!!!!!!God Bless I will pray for you!!!!!!
I had a miscarriage several years ago. I only took one pregnancy test at a clinic and the next day I miscarried. I started cramping and bleeding and the passed what looked like a blood clot but different. Go to your doctor right away. I had to have a D&C done afterward.
So I hope you've gotten some advise by now but if not I can share a little about my miscarriage. I don't know what to say about the pregnancy results but I definitely had cramping and bleeding, I think depending how far along you are you can miscarry and not really know it but if you're a little further along like 9-11weeks which is where I was the baby is a little bigger and you should definitely see the Dr. the most important thing is that nothing stays inside that shouldn't as this could cause further complications. Anyways hope this helped a bit and I wish you all the best whatever the outcome.
Go to the doctors, simple each person is different, plus you should still should be seen if you have misscarried.
I am so sorry for you loss if this is what happened
I agree, you have to find a doc asap. I know St Bearnadines in San Berdo and Loma Linda Hospital deal with no insurance.Call Beaver they might be able to point you in the right direction.
Take heart though, cramping and even heavy bleeding does not always mean miscarriage. I had super heavy bleeding, even passed a clot the size of both my fists put together, when I was 14 weeks pregnant. Turns it out it was my son's twin. Once that was out the cramping and bleeding stopped and I have a adorable 5 yr old today. The nurse told me that women can bleed and not lose the baby.
I recently had a miscarriage and the pain was that of labor. The cramps were very bad but everyone's body is different. I also spotted alot for weeks before I had the miscarriage. my suggestion is that you see your primary care physician for blood work and follow up a few days later for another blood test. If the numbers indicating pregancy are decreasing then you are or have had a miscarriage, if they increase you have not had a miscarriage. I hope this helps and I wish you the best. God bless.
I want to encourage you to go to the doctor(urgent care, emergency room, etc) and get an ultrasound. This will tell you what is happening. No one really can tell you until pregnancy or miscarriage is proven. I wish you the best. I have had miscarriages and two healthy children almost in an everyother pattern.
Go to your doctor. You could have an ectopic pregnancy. Demand that a radiologist read the ultra sound.
Hi A.,
What is the bleeding like? Is it bright red blood or dark red bleeding? If it is bright red, then I would be worried. But if it's the dark red bleeding then I wouldn't be so worried. It's normal to bleed out the dark red stuff off and on throughout a normal pregnancy. Is there any clotting?
I miscarried twins around my 7th week, they were blighted ovums and simply didn't continue to develop. I had no miscarriage symptoms at all, no bleeding or cramping. I even started having morning sickness because the pregnancy hormone was still present. And with both of my successful pregnancies, I had some cramping and dark red bleeding at the beginning. You just never know!
Call your OB right away and get checked. I wish you the best of luck!

I'm so sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I miscarried at 12 weeks and it was just as painful as childbirth, in my opinion. The "cramping" was actually contractions as my body tried to expel the unviable pregnancy. How far along are/were you? You should definitely go see your OB immediately if you even suspect that you might be miscarrying.
Good luck.
First- get off your feet RIGHT away!!! Call your doctor and just try to relax. My first pregnancy started off like this. I was under an immense amount of stress which probably brought these symptoms on. But you may be fine, my pregnancy turned out just perfect with a liittle girl. Your pregnancy hormone will not be out of your system right away if you are having a miscarriage so that is not the best resource to use. Your best avenue of information is to see your OB/GYN immediately.
I hope everything turns out okay,
B.-- mother of four daughters 13, 9 and 5 with another angel in Heaven who would be 7.
As mentioned already, most importantly, you need to go to your doctor. Each situation is different. I had two miscarriages - neither had any cramping or bleeding. My ultrasound at 9 weeks showed the embryo stopped developing. My doctor emphasized that this often occurs because there might have been something genetically deficient, which was not very comforting. A negative pregnancy test means your body is no longer producing the pregnancy enzymes that the test measures.
The one thing I wanted to add is that a miscarriage does not mean you can't or won't have children in the future. I was devastated when the first miscarriage occurred and then the second one happened almost back to back, but I now have a very healthy and happy child, so please see your doctor and have hope. You are not alone. My prayers are with you.
Go see your Doctor. Right away.
Each situation is different... without knowing your pregnancy or having it confirmed by a doctor... or about your condition now... it would be hard to say.
I had a miscarriage once, I had no cramping. Some women do.
I bled. Not a lot, but I bled.
It is different for each woman.
Go see a doctor asap... or the ER.
All the best and take care,
Susan
If you have taken pregnancy tests and they were possitive, and are now bleeding and have a neg. pregnancy test, you probably did have a miscarriage. Recently this is what happened to me : I topok a test, was possitive, one week later had mild cramping (which is normal when pregnant since your uterus starts streching out, so I thought nothing of it) and then I started lightly bleeding. I was told to go to the ER by my dr. After I was there, after ultrasounds, exams, blood tests, everything looked as if I was misscarrying. It wasnt until 12 hours after I started bleeding that it got hevier, and clotty. One week later my dr. ran another blood test to confirm a miscarriage. When I was bleeding, for me, it was just a heavier flow, clotty period. The dr told me many women have these miscarriages, and dont even know they were prego. You must have found out early, like I did. I would definitly call your dr and ask to have a blood pregnancy test done to confirm, if that would make you feel better.
A., unfortunately it does sound like you are experiencing a very early miscarriage. I experienced three similar miscarriages myself, but didn't have the cramping. I suggest you contact your doctor ASAP as there is always the risk of an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy, which can be extremely dangerous. I am so sorry you are going through this. My thoughts & prayers are with you.
A.,
I have had a couple of miscarriages. each one was a little different. When I misscarried the blood was always brighter red then a period and there was a good amount of cloting. I did have cramping like menstral cramps. Get to an er right away if you are bleeding through a pad an hour for 2 hours or more and your cramping gets worse. This happened to me on the last mc and I was hemorageing (sp?)
Go see your doctor and have them do an HCG blood test. This will tell them the exact level of pregnancy hormone you have in your body. My Dr told me if my HCG level didn't go down to a certain amount by day 10 they would schedule a d&c. Thankfully everything worked out on its own and a year to the date of my last mc I found out I was pregnant with my son who is now 3.
I am sorry for your loss
God bless and good luck
J.
Sounds like a miscarriage. Is the blood red or brown? How far along do you think you were? Have you seen a doctor? A lot of times women get pregnant without knowing it and then have a period because it was not a viable pregnancy.
Depends how early you are. If you are just taking a pregnancy test you must be about 4 weeks which it would feel like a normal period. I have read studies that quite a few women miscarry close to when their period is due and not even know it. If you are further along it HURTS bad. Like a mini labor. I had m/c at 8 weeks a few years back and it really hurt, lots of heavy bleeding, and went to ER which luckily I was naturally disposing of the pregnancy. You have nothing to worry about if you are close to your due date for your period, you will go on to have a normal period. If you are further along I would recommend seeing a doctor right away!!
Go see a dr.don't guess. Everyone doesn't have the same symptons. I hope u haven't MC. But go get professional medical attention. Not a forum opinion. Good luck.
you could be or could of been - only way to confirm your guesses is go see a OB/GYN and have them give you a blood test this will show your HCG levels - they will be elevated when you are pregnant, they may have you come in and do it again about 2 days after the 1st blood test to see if the levels are dropping, if they drop then the pregnacy has ended. Let me know when you see the dr.

Hi A.,
I have had a miscarriage. It started with spotting. But that does not mean you will miscarry. Others spot and carry their child on. The most important thing is to go to your doctor and get yourself checked, and to take it easy.
I went to the doctors, they did a sonogram with one of those wands, I got to see my baby's heartbeat. My mom was with me and we were amazed. The doctor said everything "seemed fine." Unfortunately, the very next day, I miscarried in my bathroom. Yes, I had cramps, and I took a warm bath to sooth them. When I got out, I felt the need to go to the bathroom, and then lots of blood came out, which I am told, was the baby and it's sack. I was 2 1/2 months, so at that time, you couldn't really tell with all the blood. I immediately drove myself to the hospital (my husband was on float at the time), in tears, and they confirmed I had miscarried and had to do a dnc to clean me up so I wouldn't have any infections or further problems.
I will keep you in my prayers and pray that your situation is not the same.
Sincerely,
Jenn
GO TO YOUR OBGYN!!!!! I've had four miscarriages! Why are you wasting time writing e-mails ? We're not doctors. You should always go to your doctor if your concerned or not sure about something. C. D.
It could be. I did have cramps and bleeding with my miscarriage but it was quick(all in 1 night)- I went to the ER and my test kept coming up positive for the pregnancy hormone so after like the third one they did an internal ultrasound to rule out twins. Once they were satisfied I actually miscarried I was scheduled for a D+C
Take another test- could it be the last was defective? I was positive I was miscarrying but I have heard of others that did not even know. See your OB
If you want to know if you lost a peg. then a call to your OB and a blood test a week apart will reveal either an increase or a decline in preg hormone. I just went through this. Many people think it is not possible to get false possitives. If you were taking early preg. test you may very well have gotten false possitives. When I went through this a few weeks ago, the phone nurse also told me that with early preg tests, its possible we are learning that nearly half of all preg. are lost before you even miss your period.
Hi A.-
I have had several miscarriages and the first early ones I would describe as having really bad cramps, which turned into a heaveier then usual period. As everyone is saying, go to your Dr, ER, or Urgent Care. You need to be checked out.
My heart goes to you. I've been there, not fun.
I have had a total of 4 miscarriages. My miscarriages were at 6-8 weeks. I took a pregnancy test on a Tuesday that was positive. By Friday, I was spotting and by Saturday I had miscarried. You either will start to spot and/or start to bleed. The cramps are pretty painful also. That's your uterus rejecting the pregnancy. Take a deep breath and know that it will be ok. I have been blessed with two beautiful kids. Despite what I went through, it was worth it in the end!!
Hi, A.,
I have experienced two miscarriages. Mine involved severe cramping, but not all are like that. Some women feel no discomfort, especially if the miscarriages occur in the first couple of months. See a doctor.
Good luck,
Lynne E
Seems like you're getting the correct advice - to visit your doctor immediately. But before you completely stress out, remember that bleeding during the first trimester can be completely normal. I bled during the pregnancy of my son and it was "normal"... everything was fine. ALso, remember that you can get a false negative from a pregnancy test, but you cannot get a false positive. I learned this from a fertility specialist doctor at San Diego Fertility Specialists... something to keep in mind. I hope you can relax through all of this - go get a massage! Seriously! My prayers are with you!

I have had three miscarriages all under 8 weeks. I'm assuming you're very early (maybe 5 or six weeks?). If that's the case then it usually feels like a heavier period. I would go to the doctor though to get an ultrasound and bloodwork done to both make sure you did miscarry or if you didn't to make sure the pregnancy is ok.
I am truly sorry - I know how difficult this is. Hang in there and know that miscarriages are unfortunately very common and it does not mean you can't carry a baby to term. After my third miscarriage I got pregnant again and now have a beautiful 2 year old girl.
I just miscarried about two weeks ago. At about 6 weeks pregnant, I started spotting. It was very little and brown. About four days later I started cramping and bleeding just like having a period.
You need to go in and check your hormone levels to see if they are going up or down. You should also see your doctor or go to the emergency room to get an ultrasound. When I had an ultrasound they could not see any signs of a remaining pregnancy eventhough the urine pregnancy test was still positive. My hormone levels had gone way down, though, suggesting that the embryo had stopped growing a few weeks before I actually bled.
Everyone is different. I have a friend that spotted for 6 weeks at the beginning of her pregnancy and just gave birth to a healthy full term baby. Although, her spotting was always brown and she never had cramps. The nurses at the ER also said there could be a little bleeding at about 7 weeks when the placenta takes over nourishing the baby.
Again everyone is different. Talk to your doctor or go to the emergency room as soon as you can.
I had an early MC one week after I tested positive. When I started bleeding it was crampy. It stopped for a day and then came back full force. I had contractions even this early that got worse as I got closer to passing the baby. The bleeding also got worse with every contraction. Once it passed I bled a little and the cramping stopped.
I wish you the best and remember that it's mother nature taking it's course. It's better to have an early mc then to find out that something is wrong with your baby.

A.,
I'm sorry to hear about this. I had a MC 3 years ago with similar symptoms. A friend of mine had cramps and some spotting during her pregnancy and the baby is fine.
