Does anyone know a good counselor to help with middle age issues. I have lost some of myself and am feeling inadequate.

What can I do next?

I'm not sure what area you live in, but we have had a good experience with Dallas Family Counseling Center in Dallas. Give them a call if you are nearby.

Yes, and in Woodstock! Crossroads Christian Ministries is a great place. You don't have to be any faith or anything to go there, by the way. We saw Jeff Jordan years ago and have recommended him to a few friends who have all come away with the same impression: GREAT!!! Another nice thing about this particular place is that you aren't charged any more than you can pay. In other words, they have a recommended amount but if you can't do it, you do what you can. No questions asked. If the number's still the same, it's ###-###-####.

I go to Gayle Rozintine, who is a mother of five and a counselor believes in meditation and communication, to help build self esteem. She is a wonderful sounding board.
Hope this helps.

Hey K. B,

That's so well described -- feeling like you've "lost yourself". Ya know, I don't know why more attention isn't paid to women going through the same feelings you're going through -- it just seems like it's expected that we be the nurturers of the universe -- ah well.

Yeah, I can relate. I just turned 44. Now, I haven't been married for 18 years, but I married at 37, had my first daughter at 38 (going on 39) and had our second daughter at age 42 (god Bless Emory Reproductive Center!).

Do you work? Or, if you do work out of the home, have you ever been curious about a subject or skill and wanted to learn a little about it? I often feel that the best anecdote to feeling emotionally stuck is curiousity and learning about something new. Your kids are not so young where they couldn't spare you for an evening if you wanted to take a class or join some sort of womens' group. Try that.

All my best to you K. B!
