Does anyone have a good playdough recipe you can share that is not going to harm my daughter if she decides to put it in her mouth and does not harden? Thanks!

This a really easy and a great recipe. It does not dry or hard, I make it with my 2 yr old son, and I love that I don't have to cook it on the stove and can just mix without too much work..
1 c. flour
1 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. salt
1 tbsp. oil
Food coloring
Mix and knead together. This playdoh is not sticky and does not dry out.
This recipe is the best!
Traditional Play Dough
1 cup flour
1 cup warm water
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon oil
1/4 cup salt
food coloring
Mix all ingredients, adding food coloring last. Stir over medium heat until smooth. Remove from pan and knead until blended smooth. Place in plastic bag or airtight container when cooled. Will last for a long time.
I just got done making some for my daughter's class. It is almost like the real thing! Have fun!

hi ! my youngest, 4 yr old son and i make this together ~
1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/4 cup salt
1/8 cup cream of tartar
1 Tablespoon olive oil
place all in a saucepan on medium heat, stirring constantly ~add a safe food color if you wish- when it becomes hard to stir and is a good "Playdough consistency" it is ready !
let cool on the counter....... totally toxic free! and it doesn't smell bad like the playdough from the store.
good luck, A.
Hi J., my name is K. and I teach Kindergarteners, here are my two favorites
STINKY CLAY
equal parts flour and salt (I usually use 2 cups)
2 pks unswetened kool Aid any flavor (lemonade is nice this time of yr)
warm water mixed with a few drops of food coloring
Stir together salt, Kool aid and flour. Add appropriate color food coloring to water (yellow for lemonade)and add enough water to make a soft dough. Store in Ziplock bag.
GINGERBREAD CLAY (nice for the holidays)
Same as stinky clay except subsitute ground ginger, cloves and cinnamon for the Kool aide, no food color necessary
Enjoy - K.

I used to know it by heart. I am a grandmother now, but it goes something like this:
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 tbsp Cream of Tartar
I cup water (start with less and add as needed)
1/3 cup cooking oil
food coloring
Add all ingredients and stir the pot on the stove at medium heat. The dough will harden enough to be mushy. If its TOO mushy, add more flour, until its playdough consistency. You can add one color or separate it into smaller balls and add different colors to each. It keeps well in baggies.
