I have 2 The first one I have made several times. It is great. Stays soft and does not crumble like the store bought kind. It also make a bigger batch so there is plenty to roll out and play with. The second recipe I have not made yet. My aunt just sent it to me. Have fun! My daughter (22 months) plays with playdough everyday!!
Homemade Playdough Recipe
1 cup flour
½ cup salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
Combine above ingredients in a nonstick sauce pan (reg pan is fine too).
In a measuring cup combine
1 cup water
2 Tbls. Oil
6 drops (or more) of food coloring
Cook over medium heat. Stir almost constantly. It will be lumpy. As it cooks the bottom will start to dry out and look like play dough. Keep stirring it until a ball forms and it looks like play dough. I then smash the ball into a pancake and cook for 1 min on each side. This helps it to dry out a little. Then place the dough on a piece of foil or wax paper to cool. Let cool for a few minutes. Then knead the dough if it is not already smooth. Store in an airtight container and enjoy with your children!!
Kool-aid Playdough
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2-3 T. cooking oil
1 package of Kool-aid
sprinkle of Cream of Tartar
1 cup very hot or boiling water
Mix all dry ingredients and oil. Add water a little at a time as mixture may not need all of the liquid. Knead like bread dough to make it elastic and like soft clay. Store covered.
