Anyone have a great play doh recipe that you don't have to throw away after just a few days, or that you don't have to add more and more flour everytime you use it. My kids eat the play doh- what kid doesn't? So I need one that is safe incase they do eat it. Thanks~ M.

What can I do next?

I saw on that TLC show Jon and Kate Plus 8, a mixture of honey, peanut butter and powdered milk a great recipe of edible playdough. She put a little flour in it to keep it thicker but seems like a great idea for kids that eat it!!
Look up the recipe too for playdough on the internet that is made with flour, I don't remember it but it is fun, just not very good for them to eat much of.

I saw this one on a recent episode of John and Kate plus 8

Equal parts:
poudermilk
peanutbutter
and honey

She said she somestimes has to add a little flour to get the right consistancy.

Haven't tried it, but looked like a hit on the show with her little ones.

My recipe is the same as Kimberly's we just always kept it in the fridge when we weren't playing with it and it lasted forever.

I also found this one after a web search for Play Dough Recipes

Smelly Play Doh

About 4 cups flour
1 cup salt
3 packs Kool Aid mix (any flavor but not grape)
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cups boiling water

Mix 2 cups of flour with all the rest of the dry ingredients and oil. Add boiling water and stir until the dough is cooler. Add flour until the playdoh has the right texture. Then knead dough until well mixed.

Play Doh

2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
4 tbsp oil
2 tsp cream of tartar
2 cups water & food coloring (make sure the kids don't have allergies to the color)

Put all ingredients in pan and heat over med/hi and stir until dough thickens. Drop dough on counter and knead until it is cool. (If your fingers are sensitive to heat let it cool for a minute before handling.)

There are nothing harmful in this playdoh, unless there is a allergi to the food coloring.

Have fun!!

I got this one when I asked the same question. We had lots of responses if you want to check out the others. I did try this one, but the one using jello sounded good, too, but I didn't try it since we were trying to discourage eating it.

2 C Flour
2 C Water
1 C Salt
2 T Cream of Tartar

Stir together over heat until dough comes together. Turn out on smooth surface and knead until cool and smooth. Divide into sections and dye with a couple of drops of food coloring.

Have fun!
