11 Year Old Boys

I am just curious at things other 11 year old boys have done. My 11 almost 12 year old decided last night while he was taking a shower, in my shower, that he would shave the hair off his upper lip! He came downstairs with a little cut on his lip. I asked him why he did it, if he was embarrassed because he had a bit of a hairy upper lip (both my kids are pretty hairy, heck we are quite a hairy family!) His response was he didnt know why, he just wanted to try it. He also has been wearing the same pants almost everyday as well as his...

My 12 Year Old Being Bullied at School

My 12 year old son came home from school very emotional. He did not want to tell us what happened. He finally did tell us that he was pushed to the ground and hit by 3 boys at school. Then he told us that he didn't know who the boys were. Finally he admiditted that he did know who the boys were, but he didn't want to tell us who the were. We did get him to tell us, but now we are not sure were to take this. He was obviously afraid that we would take action and make things worse for him with these boys. Should we call the parents of these ...

Need Texting Rules for 14 Year Old, Please....

My 14 year old son has become obsessed with texting. We have a plan that allows unlimited text messaging, and he seems to take that seriously. So far, we've imposed the rules that no phones can be brought to the table and that he must leave his phone charging downstairs when he goes to bed (after we discovered that he was texting an hour past his bedtime). We will go to Florida to visit his grandparents soon, and go to a theme park while we are there. I want him to enjoy the moments that he would miss if we don't limit his texting. In...

Bed Time for 10 Year Old

I am the mother of 3 healthy, active children. Recently, my husband and I have been in disagreement about what time my oldest (10 years old) should be allowed to stay up at night. I feel 8:45 for the 10 yr old is good since he must be up at 6:45am to get the bus at 7:30 am for school. I am the one who gets the kids ready for bed, reads to them, makes sure teeth are brushed, etc and my husband travels for work often so he is not home. When he is home he is usually watching TV, especially sports in the evening. But, my husband thinks the...

What Chores Do You Require of a 12 Year Old?

My dd is busy outside of school with sports practice 3 days/week and we are usually gone on the weekends. I haven't required a whole lot of chores of my kids because I'm a stay at home mom and I actually prefer to do most myself (I'm pretty picky about laundry and I have lots of breakables when cleaning). But, it probably would be good to give my 12 yo some chores just so she's trained to do certain things. What do you give your pre-teen for chorse?

How Can I Get My 14 Year Old to Enjoy School?

I have a 14 year old son who has dislike school since second grade. It has been a constant struggle to get him up in the morning and to motivate him to take pride in his school work. He is very bright, but puts the minimum amount of effort into his work. I have stressed the importance of education, I have tried bribes, rewards and everything else I can think of to motivate him..nothing works. I would welcome your suggestions.

Should I Be Honest with Principal

We decided our dd is not going on the out of town trip because the teacher she is assigned to doesn't,t properly supervise the class bully and our child doesn't.t want to go. She will have this teacher for some classes the next two years and would hold a grudge. The woman made the bully and the bullied spend time together and do trust exercises! The principal will be upset and want to fix it but I think this teacher is a dud. She also gave a project over spring break and we had to delay our trip which shows bad judgement too.
