The two local places we have are Super Suppers and the Home Plate. I used Super Suppers regularly where we were able to split the portions(and cost) with another couple. The other couple had to stop, so we quit too. I have used Home Plate just once. Both places I paid extra to get the meals prepared by them and picked up.
These were the main differences I noticed between the two. Home Plate offered Weight Watcher informaiton on their menu items, SS had the calorie/fat info so you could figure it out too. HP was a little pricer (side items were always included), they had different portion sizes(HP-4/8, SS-3/6) and seemed to be a a tad higher quality - BUT their meals were MUCH more involved when you went to cook them. HP's meals were ranked on the amount of additional at-home preparation (making a separate sauce, browning the meat first, sauteeing veggies separate etc...) Most of Super Suppers meals were something you could pop into the oven as-is or cook in one pot on the stove. SS was also setup in a way that you could easily split with another family. They took each payment separately and would prepare the orders accordingly for pickup.
Overall, tastewise we were pretty happy with both. You have to keep it in perspective... These are meals that you will make on a week night in a pinch - some are going to be really good, some just okay and some you will eat, but wouldn't choose again. Hope this helps.
