hey just wondering if theres other moms out there that do crossfit...... so much fun ... go ladies!!!!!!!
Now i am going to have to look it up to see what it is. :-)
I used to do it and loved it! However, I discovered Zumba and loved it more and I don't have enough time to do both. Any way, crossfit consists of quick workouts with good results. And, the workouts can easily be downgraded or upgraded depending on the shape your body is in. Nothing to be scared of...just do it! Another bonus is you don't have to go out and buy a whole lot of exercise equipement/weights. You can use household items and anything else you have laying around your garage.
My 65 year old aunt has been a crossfit addict for three years and is in amazing shape! She can outdo several of the men that go to her crossfit gym. :-)
I'm afraid to do crossfit, but I really need to get over it because it looks like so much fun!
I do not, but my former Pastor and his wife do (or did, before they moved. Not sure if they found a new location to do it in their new location). She (the wife) told me that I should try it because she knew my personality (and that I enjoy working out and being fit--used to do Pilates together) and that I would love it. I probably would. But I never found a convenient time/location that fit my life.
That said, since that time, I saw a story about it. And it called into question how much actual benefit a person got from it. And also, the actual risk involved in doing it--one of the main ones being that the people who tend to enjoy it and get into it are very competitive in nature, and that there is a real tendency/danger of doing too much or doing it too intensely for safety. Obviously, you can do it safely. But it is very much one of those things that if you are easily influenced by folks cheering or yelling at you or competing with you, then you may (without meaning to!) do more than you should. Or do moves faster than you can safely/accurately do them.
Both in "over doing it" and in doing moves so quickly that proper form isn't followed, you can injure yourself from lack of precision/proper form.
Will you fill us in on what to expect our first time in? I have a friend that actually just told me today that there is a location 5 min away from my house and that the first session is free, so I am curious and kindof wanting to try it but also nervous about whether I can hack it. I am starting to get in shape- I work out 6 days a week at least an hour a day, doing yoga, running, biking, zumba etc, but I have only been working out that hard and consistently for a month. Do you think I would be able to do it without failing miserably?
