How does CrossFit compare to other workout programs. Here to stay or a fad? Will it disappear like rollerblading or overtake all the gyms?

What can I do next?

I don't think you will see it taking over any more then it already has because it is not new, it has been around and popular for almost a decade now. I think it will end up kind of like jazzercise, for a while jazzercise gyms were everywhere, now there are just a few. Right now crossfit gyms are everywhere and with time there will more then likely just be a few. Same with the crossfit competitions, remember back in the 80s when they had aerobics competitions and it was all the rage? lol, I think I might have just dated myself :)

A few years ago, my husband came home telling me about how crazy his boss was over cross fit. I don't know much about if, but of course it's a fad for crazy workout folks.

once people realize that it is not a good way to treat your body it will go away. maybe not completely but it will not be as popular as it is now.
dh's co-worker is a co-owner of a crossfit gym here and from what i can tell anyone doing crossfit now will be in pain in 15 years. maybe this location is just crazier than the rest but sheesh, i wouldn't even try that stuff.

It's been growing in popularity for quite some time. While potentially a fad it's hard to argue with is longevity and what appear to be loyal followers.

There is a lot of debate about how safe it is, but with any form exercise your looking at a risk/reward relationship.

Only time will tell but I think if it's helping people who previously may not have worked out get healthy - that's only a good thing.
