Why Am I Bleeding Every 2 Weeks While Breastfeeding ?

I’m breastfeeding exclusively, and not only did I start having periods, but they are coming every two weeks... they are heavy, and last 7 days.
I am also spotting after sex...
I’ve looked for answers online, but I’m starting to think I’m the only one.

I stopped bleeding 6 weeks postpartum, and I’m an now going on 3 months.

What can I do next?

It is possible to have a period while breastfeeding. So right there might be what was confusing you . If it is this heavy and this often though you need to be examined by a Dr. I know it's hard to make the time while you are busy with baby but it is important.

What does your doctor say?
Heavy bleeding like that makes me think your hormones are off or something didn't heal up right and it easily starts bleeding again.
Breast feeding causes your uterus to contract.
If there's a placenta fragment in there it could be a problem.
Or it could be anything else.
Your doctor is your best bet for getting this figured out.

That is not normal and I suggest you see your doctor. An exam and possibly an ultrasound can diagnose the problem. Random people online without training, not so much.

Your doctor expects to hear from you regularly after you give birth, and for months afterwards. It costs nothing to call in to talk to the doctor or a nurse, and these are the people who a) know your medical history and b) can ask you the right questions.

You're a mom now and you have to get in the habit of calling the pediatrician for questions about your child. Do not, do not, use the internet for medical advice! You want the personal touch with someone who knows you and knows your child. It's what responsible parents do.

We aren't the ones to ask. Get in your gyn's office and have an examination.

Welcome to mamapedia!

Stop looking on the internet for others in the same boat and get your butt into your OB/GYN office. THAT is where you can find answers to YOUR problems.

Most likely its due to hormones which are crazy during and after pregnancy. I'd probably give the doctor's office and call and go in for a quick check up. Better to have it looked at and find nothing than to worry about it all the time.

This is not related to breastfeeding. See your doctor ASAP.
