Where Can I Find Girls Bedding in the Houston Area?

I am looking for bedding for my 4 year old and I am thought I would pose this question to all the moms out there...where can I find cute and affordable (not cheap looking) bedding for her? As, I have been looking at some stores I am finding bedding is quite the investment when you start putting pieces together. I do not have a theme and I will probably use this bedding for many years to come so it will need to grow with her but not put her into a particular theme but am willing to hear ideas. We spent a little more on her mattress since we figure she will have her mattress for many years to come. Her furniture is cherry in color. I have looked at Pottery Barn kids (I like the Amelia collection), Macy's, Target and Baby's First Furniture to name a few. I have also looked on-line but not finding anything that catches my eye.
We live near the Galleria but willing to venture out in different areas of Houston. Thanks for all your ideas in advance.

What can I do next?

Try Anna's linens. There is a store in the parking lot of the Fiesta near the Astrodome (main at OST). Here is a link to the website...

For something that will grow, it's nice to pick a few colors that coordinate and build from there....

Good luck and have fun!

Hi! I want to start out by saying we have kids the same age! In May I will have been married 7 years and we will have a 6 YO, 5 YO, 4 YO, 2 YO and a new baby. :)

I LOVE buying bedding at discount stores like Ross, Marshalls, ect. You should also try West Point Stevens. The reason why I like it is I spend Walmart prices on products from Ralph Lauren, DKNY, Tommy Hillfigger, ect- in fact my last sheet set was cheaper then my mom's Walmart bedding. If you go to WPS, ask them where they keep their discounted sheets (the front displays are always much much more expensive.) You can often mix up prints and colors too if they don't have the same fitted/ flat/ pillow cases. Most of mine are mixed and you'd never know they weren't a set! I've gotten really spoiled on high quality bedding. :)

I purchase hand stitched quilts at Garden Ridge. They have held up very well (the one on my bed I've had 7 years) and I paid only $20 or less on my king size quilt (on sale.)

Check online landsend.com (had lots of things on sale since Christmas) and warehouse.com and overstock.com. Some real bargains sometimes.

On my website www.thecheapmom.com I have links to various websites that offer really nice looking bedding. The links are in the Marketplace under "Various" (the marketplace homepage) and "Other." Plus, there may be specials under the Special Offers tab (I forget). Good luck with your search!

I was surprised to find that JC Penny has quality and affordable bedding. We got my son and daughter bedding from JC Penny and it looks like it came from Pottery Barn etc. They get many compliments and it has been holding up just fine for 3 years.

I got one of my girls her bedding at Marshall's I think it was. It is of excellent quality. The only problem is that with these types of stores (Marshall's, TJ MAXX, Ross) is that it is hit or miss. Sometimes you hit the jackpot and others not so much. I'd try those places and see what they have. You may have to go to several locations and more than once. I got my other daughter's set at JC Penny online and it is adorable! We've had it for several years and washes well, etc. Or you could check out Lillian Vernon online and there's another one called "rooms for kids" I think it's called online.

Good luck!

Garnet Hill online (can be pricey but good sales and unusual, quality stuff) or PBkids and PBTeen-also Company Store Kids. All online. Or quit looking for "kid" stuff- wait a month or so until the "spring" collections come out and you can find lots of bright colors to work around at Macy's or some of the other department stores. And Target's pricier sheets are very nice quality. I am a stickler for quality sheets for everyone- high thread count and soft feel. One way to economize if you need two sets of sheets- buy one fancier patterned set and combine w/ a basic solid set in a coordinating color. Use the patterned top sheet w/ the solid flat or v/v. Or solid basic sheets w/ a beautiful quilt. Bed Bath and Beyond has darling quilts -pinks and greens- that would make a precious room. My daughter just had her room painted white and then we traced around different size plates and made pink polka dots all over her room. Her sheets are polka dotted- her comforter is solid- altho another friend used my idea w/ a BB&B pink/green quilt- none of it is really "kid" stuff. In the fall there are fabulous deals on the "college" stuff- really cute sets for twins and doubles. And lots of time they are knock offs of prints from the more expensive stores.

There is a great shop in the Village close to West University called Nest & Cot. They are located on Rice.
Another shop close by is called Doodles, but sadly I have heard of less than favorable customer service from that shop.

There is also a website called KooKoo Bear Kids that has adorable bedding....

Good luck!

This isn't in the Houston area but if you can find a Pottery Barn Outlet store (the one in San Marcos is good) you can find their bedding at really reduced prices. I found my daughters bedding there , it was originally priced at 130$ and we bought it for 30$. You have less to choose from, but the prices are good.

Have you thought about making it yourself? If you know how to sew you can buy the material to make her curtains, a bedspread or comforter, and bed skirt. Then you could just buy matching sheets and pillow cases. If you are looking for quality it is often much less expensive to make it yourself.
As for a theme, I don't have much advice there as I have a son. A friend of mind did her daughter's room in pastel colors so that she could change them up...different sheets or curtains whenever the mood struck. The only thing that stayed the same for several years was the bedspread. It had a gentle swirl of pastels on it and was very pretty.

since you live in the Galleria area, try Rice Village. Or there are a whole bunch of great kids resale shops in the area. ( off of Memorial by Second Baptist- and KIncaid School).
They are hole in the wall shops in strip centers.

In the interest of full disclosure, I work for IKEA. They have some great textiles and do a lot to ensure the safety of all of their products--especially children's products.

The curtains are also much longer than what you get in most places and you can use the extra fabric to make matching pillows, cover a stool, etc.

Think about picking a pattern for accent and doing a base pallete of solids. You can add lots of throw pillows and big cushions for floor seating. You can easily change up the look without getting locked into a theme.

They also have some great accessories...net canopies, interesting toy storage.

I've used white/off-white base and added color in my drapes, walls, pillows, art...and I can just bleach the heck out of something if it gets dirty.

There are not really that many places to get good childrens bedding that is not cheap in quality and looks. You have already looked at the places I would suggest but have you tried Bed Bath & Beyond. They usually have nice sets and also have name brands. Good Luck.
